This is one of the most enjoyable guitar lesson videos that I have ever seen - what a great song. Thank you Jerry much.

I’m no musician at all but I can safely say this is one of the greatest live guitar solos ever. Jerry was on fire that night…

This evening and the Scarlet Fire (regardless of non musician Dead heads who I have heard, rather ignorantly, claim this is a cliche show despite the best playing by Phil Lesh and Jerry on a number of excellent songs in the prime of their chemistry on the most musically iconic show that I have ever heard and for years I was a tape freak and then only collected those with the best sound quality plus a few that simply showcased great playing but the sound was t great like the shoes from the early 70s). In any case, having over 1,000 tapes with about 75 that I consider excellent, I have yet to hear Effortless guitar improvisation equivalent to this rendition of Scarlet/Fire and I attribute a lot of this to Phil's bass playing which is driving the groove plus Bob's rhythm guitar work, and Hart and Kreutzman playing great and Keith's electric piano tone. Even Donna adds something although on a few tracks she detracts by over backing the vocals

By far the best at slide but other guitar as well. I was broken hearted when he died - I had tickets to a concert the next night.

Very nice. One of the first songs my guitar teacher taught me. RIP Eddie, you were a cool dude. One of my favorite albums is Live at Atlanta Pop Festival… there are two versions of this song. 😎

Thanks for the backing track! I'm working on this tune right now. Any idea where the background photo is from? Reminds me of Lake Shasta or somewhere similar up in NorCal...

Hey man, i'm in my late 50's.. been on the bus since Alpine 89. Bought a tab book on tour in 1990 and learned how to strum most GD songs. Now I'm going through my mid-life crisis but instead of wanting a red convertable and a Harley, I just want to learn how to play these Jerry songs like Peggy-O and West LA and TLEO the right way, and that means finger picking. This is the best place I have found for that. Thank you so much for this content. You have helped me got my fingers to do things I never thought they could! Wish I would have started sooner but all good thing... :) thanks again!

This is VERY well done- it is in depth and giving you exactly what is going on each step of the way.. Not just the individual notes but the theoretical framework- which is much more valuable

Hi Craig, I don't remember reading this commentary before. It's really excellent. I also just pored over the one on Dire Wolf, and thar one was also outstanding. Thanks for your work. I am returning to my Dead roots playing and you are, as always, one of my gateways to the guru. P.s. I tried posting this at your website, but the Captcha did not work on my iPad.
