During normal operation, do the valves needed to be slightly open or totally closed? I noticed that if I have the valves slightly open, there's leaking on the pipes but when I totally close them, the leak is gone. Just scared that if I totally close the valve shut, it will not give water to the system. WOuld greatly appreciate your response.
@werepairsprinklers20 күн бұрын
Sounds like you’re referring to the solenoid, which is designed to be totally closed during operation. The solenoid let’s water run through the valve into the pipes, electronically from the control timer. And shuts off the water, running through the valve/pipes after the water time is up.

@@werepairsprinklers Thank you. That clear things up.
You can pick them at your local sprinkler supply store. Tell them you need the handle that turns the solenoid on a Rainbird valve.

How do I turn it on in Cedar City? I believe we are on culinary. I checked our cold storage where the house water comes in and there is no tee for sprinklers. So I’m assuming there has to be something out in the front of the house.

This is the first year I turned on my sprinkler system myself and I was sooo excited it was working!! But then I saw one of my heads didn’t pop up and I kinda know the area since it’s waterlogged. Does a sprinkler head completely disappear in the winter?!? Or how can I find it?!? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks! :)
@werepairsprinklers7 ай бұрын
Sprinkler heads can get covered from dirt/snow though the winter. Turn that zone back on, find the water logged area, slosh the area back and forth with your foot/shoe and the head should pop though. Might take a minute to locate the exact spot, but that should take care of it.
@FixItWithMe7 ай бұрын
@@werepairsprinklers been trying to stab the waterlogged area with a screwdriver to find it, but it’s totally MIA. I think I might have a to dig the whole area up to see what’s going on. Any other ideas of what I should try? Is it true if I step on another sprinkler head on the line it will create more pressure and maybe help shoot it out from the ground?
@werepairsprinklers7 ай бұрын
You have to kind of be aggressive with the soggy area, like kick into it with the top of your foot. You gonna get messy, but it should eventually pop up. If it’s stuck under the lawn like I think it is.

In utah are backflow preventers installed above ground or below ground in commerical properties?

In Utah all back flow preventers are installed above ground, residential or commercial, per Utah code. Thanks for the question :)

@@werepairsprinklers so how does one locate a backflow preventer. Would one just walk around to find it? Are there mostly located outside?
@werepairsprinklers Жыл бұрын
Depends on what city in Utah you live in. Most cities in Utah County run on pressurized irrigation, and don’t use a back flow preventer. Also some older homes, say in slc, use to have backflows installed in ground. So it might be in a green valve box close to your outside water service meter, or you might not have 1.
@aaronbaraiya3692 Жыл бұрын
@@werepairsprinklers so how does one shut the water off if thee is not back flow preventer?
@werepairsprinklers Жыл бұрын
You can shut the water off using the stop and waste in the yard (culinary or pressurized irrigation water) or a lever in the basement/crawl space of the house.
