Your rendition of this Loreena McKennitt song is absolutely beautiful! You’ve really captured the soul and emotion of her music. It’s always such a joy to come across other musicians who share a love for her work. I also enjoy playing her music on the piano, and it’s so inspiring to see other artists bringing her songs to life in their own unique way. I just did “The Old Ways” on my channel, but hearing you do this makes me so bummed I don’t have other musicians in my life who know her music. Keep up the amazing work-looking forward to hearing more from you!

@@SarahVanell so glad you saw this..... would be happy to message you the clip if you'd like. My dad walked me up the (grass) aisle to your song, which I chose as a nod to our ancestors. Just perfect 💜

Nice Interpretation ! See Loreena Live a few year ago. "All souls Night" (From : "The Visit" CD) is my Favorite. Be nice to hear your Interpretation. Also using a Capo and maybe syncopation to your Finger style depending on what key is best for your range be pretty good I'd Imagine. You know, my step daughter is getting married this weekend and I needed a version of this song that I would "feel" (other than the movie version which is fabulous) and this is the best I have heard. Thank you so very much.

Beautiful cover. I love this song but most versions seem so dated. I like it stripped down and simple with acoustic guitar. Well done.

Beautiful voice! Nice job! Don't know if you know this, but John wrote this song on a solo backpacking trip in the Canadian Rockies one evening/night when he was camped on a rocky outcrop, overlooking miles of golden wheat fields. It made him think of his days on the Deutschendorf farm in Oklahoma where he came to know and befriend his uncle Dean. Sadly Dean wa killed in an auto accident when he was 21, but John remembered their camaraderie and love that night and ended up wrote this song in about 5 minutes.

Mummers Dance is a song rooted in the older agricultural lives of English people in the past. Loreena has taken a little artistic licence in her portrayal but I can forgive her. It is a wonderful song that brings life to the people who lived those lives. It is a true celebration of life. As a British citizen and a Welshman from Wales and a neighbour to those English peoples I feel a fairly strong connection. My Welsh ancestors lives were not so different. Our cultures and language was different but the things we celebrated were not. We too celebrated the spring and early summer. I like your version Sarah. I am minded that Loreena is from North America too. An appreciation of the old world is to be lauded.
