Your rendition of this Loreena McKennitt song is absolutely beautiful! You’ve really captured the soul and emotion of her music. It’s always such a joy to come across other musicians who share a love for her work. I also enjoy playing her music on the piano, and it’s so inspiring to see other artists bringing her songs to life in their own unique way. I just did “The Old Ways” on my channel, but hearing you do this makes me so bummed I don’t have other musicians in my life who know her music. God this took me back to being a kid. My mom would blare this throughout the house while she cleaned. I was little and relegated to dusting/scullery. Loreena McKennitt and Enya lol. This song and "The Highwayman" were the "go to's". As a degenerate, I proudly have not dusted baseboards since lol. You absolutely killed it.

Mummers Dance is a song rooted in the older agricultural lives of English people in the past. Loreena has taken a little artistic licence in her portrayal but I can forgive her. It is a wonderful song that brings life to the people who lived those lives. It is a true celebration of life. As a British citizen and a Welshman from Wales and a neighbour to those English peoples I feel a fairly strong connection. My Welsh ancestors lives were not so different. Our cultures and language was different but the things we celebrated were not. We too celebrated the spring and early summer. I like your version Sarah. I am minded that Loreena is from North America too. An appreciation of the old world is to be lauded.
