In this scene there is a subtle give away that he was pretending the whole time.

The way Richard Gere replies “who the fuck are YOU” 👌🏽 subtle but massive impact. This film was unreal!

The best Edward Norton film and then american history X. The primal fear book by William diehl is a master piece and there is a sequel to primal fear, the second book based on Marty vail and araon stampler is called show of evil written by William diehl, if your interested and primal fear fans . Highly recommended.

My pal's a bit of a gambler. They said "this season's Waterworld. You see Kevin Costner on that show about Yellowstone?" I said "no way, it's Pitch Black. My weather report said we're having aurora borealis , like at the north Pole." "But they said the hurricane season was going to be huge this year" "Yean but I didn't see one. Yet. Carrington event: borealis."

I remember watching this the first time when it came out. Totally had me fooled. The ending was shocking. Usually I can guess how movies end...NEVER say the ending of this one coming. "There never was a Roy"?......."There never was a Aaron"!

Acting, yep, no biggie...I waited tables in the past. Waiting tables IS acting, "acting as if you like people." I could have won an Oscar every shift! Yep, acting, no biggie. Wahi' Valleys

What I love about this scene is “Roy’s” question - “what is it, Marty?”. So subtle, but so effective (Marty never once revealed his name in all the time that “Aaron” turned to “Roy” in this scene - i.e, he remembered all along that Richard Gere was called Marty and was therefore faking it). It’s something I’ve only noticed now I’ve seen the film already and know the twist. So subtle yet so brilliant.

He said Aaron told him all about Marty. How are ppl this dense? The simplest thing ppl can't comprehend in movies.

Wow what a phenomenal actor. The way his facial expression changes from a helpless boy to a bad ass is simply amazing. Edward Norton was born to play this role. American History X is another role where his acting was just top notch. Idk about you guys but he had me fooled til the end. When he reveals Aaron was just an act all along truly blows your mind.

What a fucking awesome story and filmmaking!!!! You truly believe and feel for the guy at the end!!! Poor guy is already weak and can't even control himself and is victim of his own "inner demon" who can do stuff he can't handle, if this wasn't enough he suffered abuse. This alone is already a great story, to try and succeed in proving his innocence why even approaching how he cure himself is already great on it's own but the story goes a step a further and asks "what if... he's actually lying", the story could develop the same way the only difference is that the evil wins turning the story in an INSANE display of skill. Imagine a person that lies so much and so well that even when he says "there's no roy" you can't even know if he's lying or not??? The manipulation is endless, a person ourside their head would never know the truth about someone's self.

4:06 What's best it's that just like Roy said "he can handle stuff" you gotta try but it's almost sure he's going go lie and manipulate you, he's playing a big. And when you know the end this is a Dk Joker level of confidence and skill, a one man army. Also this is an actor playing an actor playing an actor.

Stunning debut from Ed. Norton. Hadn't seen such an incredible 1st time appearance by a star since Ricky Shcrodder appearance as the small boy T.J. in the 1979 movie The Champ.
