this was such an important film and especially at the time because there was a murderer that attempted this..he faked insanity and multiple personality disorder (D.I.D.) which is a very real thing they tried to say it wasn't cuz of a movie/real case called Sybil with sally field but they were saying the doctors created it deliberately in the woman who had borderline not D.I.D but u don't know the motives for these people claiming it was all to make money... i know someone who has D.I.D and it was terrifying yet my psychology knowledge and true crime interested mind was fascinated watching him switch to his many personalities...he was taking anti psychotics but it didn't seem to work in my opinion cuz he still had hallucinations, paranoia, extreme emotional outbursts, delusions of persecution, homicidal fantasies, suicidal thoughts, depression, rage and blackouts, violent outbursts, and ptsd episodes...i witnessed most of those when i let him stay at my apartment for a week..it was EXHAUSTING and dangerous because i didn't exactly have a shot ready to sedate him and i am not a licensed psychiatrist. But it was quite an experience. He also said he was a she, but not a real trans gender person because he had this illness and i am surprised they let him get breast implants and he was back and forth changing his mind all the time to have a full sex change operation and they wont do it on someone with certain disorders like he has. So he still had his but he dressed like a woman and had breasts. But as far as being accused of murder it is impossible to fake insanity or mental illness nowadays especially to convince multiple doctors and a jury and the media... cuz we know more about this than they did in the past

And I remember the upset that everyone felt when he was robbed at the Oscars and Cuba won the award over Edward! That award should have gone to Edward for this role, a lot of people in business also came out at the time and said he was robbed, someone even saying Cuba only won because of Tom who carried his/Cuba’s character in Jerry Maguire! It still pisses me and A lot of other people off when this movie comes on knowing what happened at the awards shows back then.
