In a format where maxx c exists at 3 copies, unless you’re a floo player or trap gimmick player etc.., you’re probably going to special summon on your turn. So you have to play the maxx c minigame before the real game starts. Ash has to be at 3 as well as called by and cross out at as many as legal. If you lose the maxx c minigame you probably lose completely 😔

You play 3 copies of each card for the assumption of an increase in consistency. I play 3 copies of each card for the false belief that the game is going to last more than 3 turns and I will need the other copies later. We are not the same.

I think this video has a good point but since most duels only last 2-3 turns and disruptions are very crucial. Running 3 of a card just to maximize your chances of drawing it turn one is a better strategy than it seems when doing the math.

I remember moving my deck to 44 cards actually barely decreased the consistency for single but increased by percentage of 2 card combos. Overalls increasing consistency. This actually maths and makes sense

I get that you're talking about the TCG here, but many people, I'd dare saying most, actually player Master Duel, in which Maxx C is legal. If you get hit by Maxx C and you do not have an answer, you lose on the spot 9 out of 10 times. It usually doesn't even hurt to draw 2 Ash, as you drop one on Maxx C on your turn and have another Ash to drop next turn. There is no measurement to how good Ash actually is. It's like an Ash vs Maxx C minigame unrelated to the actual game. She's just a mandatory 3-of every time.

Ash may be not enough to stop most decks to make their combos, but a good player may use it on a key moment to disrupt the opponent's combo just enough so they can play through their end board. Cards like Ogre and Belle are best used against specific strategies and can't disturb your opponent's combo enough to the point of allowing you to make a counterplay in the next turn if your opponent's deck isn't particularly weak to those effects, while Ash is good against any deck, to the point of being more than worthy running the low risk of getting two copies in the starting hand, not to mention that if your deck have good 1 card combos getting multiple copies of the same card isn't a big problem.

I actually disagree with this, let’s look into a situation where you’re decision into playing 3 or 2 of card A to play 0 or 1 copies of card B, and let’s say card A is the best in card for you in most scenarios, like ash or any specific handtrap u are usually maining or siding(even tho siding is more about siding patterns but this is a whole other discussion). When you draw only one card A the difference between running 3 or 2 is 7.64%, but like you said, this is probably countered by the fact that u looses hard if u draw two of the same card, 2.46% of the hands, Right? Actually no, if we look at the chances where there’s an actual difference, that means the hands where u get to draw card B, we’re talking about 12.5% of the initial hands for a one of, since in 2.46% it helps you, in 12.04% of the times u’re actively choosing to get a worse from your deck building, since card A is objectively better, and that’s why u play more of that or u even considered playing multiple copies of it. The only scenario where not running maximum copies of a card makes real sense is when the cards covers the same function in the deck and one is only marginally better than the other, what is not the case for most handtraps, since they are chosen for the format and what makes u perform better at some formats is greatly correlated to the more u know about the meta and what is good against it. This scenario of covalent cards have to be considered when u look at groups of cards not individuals cards itself, but this comment already too long and almost anyone is gonna read that text written with this lame ass English of mine from my phone. The thing is, just because someone is showing numbers or relating something, like ppl at those comments are by saying they have seen less multiples(it’s placebo guys, c’mon, obviously you will remember the times where 2 ashs screwed you and not the times where those one ofs did worse than the ash), that does not mean they’re looking at it from the right perspective.

I dont think you understand how cards are valued, the handtraps you mentioned stop different cards to varying impacts on the board, and you usually want the most impactful and widely applicable card to be maxed out before you want to add more suboptimal cards, the chance of drawing multiples is much more negligible compared to the chance you lose of seeing a much more impactful card. Your idea would work if all cards were equal or barely had differences, but to win games you want your cards to be as impactful as they possibly can, which is gonna be the best result in 17.5% more of your games, and a minor setback in those 3.6% where you draw multiples

See, players that follow the heart of the cards naturally gravitate towards using the right deck formula instinctively. I've been using 1 of or 2 ash 1 veiler or anything really. I don't actually want to draw ash, especially when I draw 2 ash and I brick. HERO has the eternal debate of the vision hero engine formula. 3 2 2 or 3 3 1 or 2 3 1/2. Fun fact, Dinomorphia can and might want more than Ash from the ghost girls set if they're running Psychic End Punisher. The fact they're tuners actually a boon rather than a waste of ink. So having two Ash or Ogres isn't a waste. It's a matter of what else is in the hand.

In the Cherubini combo, at the beginning, if you place another pegasus instead of vanilla 4 you get 1 more crystal in your zone which gives you one more monster when cross sheep brings back ruby
