would these questions be comparable to what is on an aptitude test to join a union in Ontario?

That’s a great question. I have taken many aptitude test for jobs. None in Ontario. Hopefully someone who has done it will read the comment and give more perspective.

On your socket tools, impact sockets are a softer metal, so they can take the hammering and not crack, while a hand tool (chrome) socket is harder, so will take more torque force, but won't sustain being hammered on. An impact socket while use able with a regular rachet works, but is more likely to mush/round off a bolt/socket (especially if it's a cheap socket)

Letter stamps also work well on s/s, but you must hit it straight. Used it in shipbuilding when we sent things to the paint yard for identification. You can get good deep-set punches that can be painted over.

Thanks. Great explanation but I have question. I read before that corse external threaded are weaker than fine threads because corse fasteners has smaller minor diameter than fine fastener. How ever for internal threaded like nuts or threads in cast it's the reverse because on those corse threads gonna have larger minor diameter than fine. So this statement ain't correct? But from the vedio i understand the opposite that in both bots and nuts corse threads are stronger than fine threads. Thank you very much for the vedios.
@Stubbornnut
@Stubbornnut Ай бұрын
I used to think that too. Because of the helix angle being smaller. The truth is in deflection of each successive thread.

It’s the diameter of the circle the dial indicator plunger travels. The larger the circle the more accurate the measurement will be.

Really useful - thanks! Also very interesting to see how the shape of the bottom of the drilled hole changes as the drill wears. I had no idea that would happen so fast.
@Stubbornnut

That’s probably due to cutting it on a band saw instead of a milling machine. The drill stayed sharp ;)

I'm at 49:32 if they add to the front legs, this is gonna create offset with the pump. I don't know if he addresses this later in video. I didn't wait b4 commenting. As as a student trying to learn and understand, this creates a lot of confusion. Back at 24:26 They added .125 thou shims to ea leg. This made the motor and pump level at the rim.
@Stubbornnut
@Stubbornnut 3 ай бұрын
The initial .125 was a really rough alignment to resolve soft foot and coupling bind. Adding to the front foot will correct vertical angular (va) and the following 12-6 rim reading halved will tell you the adjustment for vertical offset.

Very nice but dial calibers would be better more surface and didn’t that micrometer have the ratchet. I mean that is the more accurate for beginners. Yes and it’s natural to be able to just know your holding it just right and have just the right amount of press on the shim.
