You don't want a vacuum for cooling, you want pressure. Also using a vacuum will make the inside dirtier as it is harder to control where air enters, where as a pressurized system you don't have to worry as much and just filter the intake fan.

Positive air pressure (fan pushing in) will push excess air through the cracks and parts of the enclosure that aren't completely sealed which keeps the inside a bit cleaner for a bit longer, with the fan pulling air out it will pull dust and debris through those same spots into the enclosure. The temperature difference would be negligible.
@glowst1cks_tv
@glowst1cks_tv Күн бұрын
When building PC's I always have an odd number of fans, so the case always has positive pressure, that way dust won't be sneaking in through unfiltered areas, it does make sense that positive pressure will move air better. I'd put intake fans on the bottom.

@envisioning13

That makes no ducking sense... You need air transfer to cool... The hot air needs to be reflected out of the unit... No other option than to perform maintenance and upkeep on the filters... Most of the designs I've seen of panels uses an intake fan and exhaust fan.... Or just exhaust with an intake grill... Regardless you always filter the incoming air

Here's how I understand it. Blowing into the box will create a situation where the air is being pushed against the hot bits in the box, more so than if you would use the fan to suck the air through the box. Because of the overall pressure in the box. Blowing will raise the pressure, sucking will drop the pressure. For cooling to happen, the air MUST touch the hot bits, the air CAN'T touch the hot bits very well inside a vacuum, as a vacuum means LESS air. Here's an analogy. So if you had a hot car in the sun, and you held your hand very near the surface and tried to feel the heat from the metal, you'd feel some, but not like you'd feel if you pressed your hand firmly against the metal of the car. Same goes for the air running over the hot parts in the box. The air is your hand, and the hot bits is the car in my analogy. So if you want to remove heat from the car via your hand, you'd press on the car. Same for the air cooling system, you'd use the air to press firmly against the hot bits, air movement is not the name of the game, it's static pressure. Your central AC's efficiency is based on this principal, as well as your PC case too. So since The hot bits are clearly concerning to OP, then why not use the full potential of a tiny little fan. Remember you don't need much, simply pressing your hand against the car is not a whole lot different of a setup than holding your hand above the surface but the impacts are profound enough to mention it if you saw someone trying to get heat from a car by hovering their hand. All this to say, perhaps the heat buildup within the box was the main concern in this setup so getting maximum cooling on the parts themselves wasn't the focus, but rather keeping the ambient temps in the box in check. It just seems that if you're gonna run the fan, why not cool the parts too??? Kinda like smoke em if ya got em.
@ZomBeatBrainZ
@ZomBeatBrainZ 12 сағат бұрын
Actually in HVAC, too much static pressure the less air will flow through the system. No flow = no heating and cooling. Increasing size or speed of the fan to a point beyond what duct can handle will slow down the air flowing through and build pressure instead, which can cause duct blowouts. Like in a balloon, the more pressure inside the slower the air come out. As the pressure decreases more air escapes.

Ok, The reason is, lower pressure creates more heat. For the most efficient cooling, especially with heat dissipating electronic devices that have heat sinks, it is always better to pressurize the cabinet then pull a vacuum on it. I operate a 10mw server farm in Texas. I couldn't keep it cool, even though I had all the right gear and flow rates. I spent several thousand in engineering firms to be told "pressurizing is better." Something about more dense air moves more heat. Now, this small cabinet and low heat load. I doubt it makes a noticeable difference. But the commenter was probably confused on the semantics of the concept.
@AtomicHermit
@AtomicHermit Күн бұрын
Gooblesygook.Low pressure does not "create heat". It is better to pressurize cabinets with cool filtered air, but that is because that means.better airflow (air is compressible meaning that fans can blow much more effectively than they can suck) and that any leaks are outward and do not bring warm dirty air into the enclosure.
@LegendaryFarm84
@LegendaryFarm84 Күн бұрын
@@AtomicHermit When you are speaking about large cabinets, rooms, with a high energy density. The pressure inside that room, cabinet, enclosure, 100% is affected by the pressure. Think about the "amount of air" in a certain volume at different temperatures. there is more AIR in a set volume at a higher pressure. Since you are using the air to transfer the heat, the less air, the less heat capacity of the air. I agree with would on the filtered air part as well.
@AtomicHermit
@AtomicHermit Күн бұрын
@@LegendaryFarm84 Heat is a measure of energy. Low pressure does not create energy. Indeed, compressing air literally forces a given amount of air into a smaller space, resulting in the molecules being packed closer resulting in the molecules impinging more on each other, causing the temperature to increase. This phenomenon is called “heat of compression”. The ability of air to accept heat is not directly changed by pressure, although the mass of air in a given space will change according to pressure and that change in mass will change the thermal acceptance rate Q according to Q = mass in g x specific heat capacity x difference in temperature in K. As the pressure rise or fall from an axial fan is very low (a few mm of water pressure at most), the effect on density over any reasonable difference in pressure is miniscule.
@LegendaryFarm84
@LegendaryFarm84 22 сағат бұрын
@@AtomicHermit It is clear none of your rebuttal is based in fact or any type of engineering knowledge. I appreciate your response, and respectfully want to disagree. If you were remotely correct, server farms at higher elevations would not have to consider atmospheric pressure when calculating heat loads, which is where I made the most improvements was following what they were doing. Once again, changing my 10,000,000 watt server farm from a suction cooling to pressurized cooling allowed me to manage my units within operating temperature during peak summer temps. And it cost me upwards of $20k in engineering costs to get it figured out. Yes, if I increased my heat load capacity to a higher percentage, to offset this "miniscule" difference you think there is, then I can agree. But money doesn't grow on trees, and once you graduate, the real world will teach you actual real world scenarios.

I just got one of these yesterday and did a radio check and talked about 45 minutes to the fellow that gave me the report and then the radio quit being able to open the repeater so I had to switch radios. I hooked my meter to it and it is only putting out 2 watts on ultra high power. A replacement is on the way. If it acts up I will be sending it back for a refund. It also started with the ptt not working. Pulling the battery did nothing the only thing that worked was to reset the radio. I hope the replacement is as good as my other wouxun radios. They have been incredible radios. I actually prefer the wouxun over the yaesu in my radio collection.

Nice Video JDubb.. I assume your frequency is the same as Greenbrier G.M.R.S. repeater system and that's why they want you to NULL a certain direct. I'm only guessing....please elaborate in your next video. One thing I did observe was a snow plow near the repeater cabinet. That being said, if someone accidently backed up into your repeater cabinet, then it's game (repeater) over... Another observation that caught my eye was a Cessna 182RG hangered.
