I had a fabric stash that was under 200 fabrics. Then I was given a choice of fabrics from my son's friend who was a quilter who passed away. So, then I had an overwhelming amount of fabric. What happened next was I then had so many quilt tops that I didn't know what to do. So, I found a quilt guild and sent them a box full of fabric. Still, had way to much. My daughter came over about 3 weeks ago and asked me if I would teach her how to quilt. So I did, and she loves to quilt and is almost done with her first quilt. I showed her the pile of quilt tops that I was planing on giving to a quilt guild. She said "Your giving these away". Of course I said yes, because I don't need any more quilts. It's just my husband and me, but we both love to quilt. She asked if she could have one, and I said sure. My daughter found a long Armer and is having it quilted. She came over today for another lesson and asked if she could get some of those quilt tops. All I thought was some of these quilt tops will be cleared out of here. I have been trying to get organized and get things done. Not to make room for more, but just to make some room around here. My house is small and in my sewing room it feels like the walls are closing in on me. So, great video about getting things done and out to someone who will love and cherish your work. Loved your video. From, New Mexico

Wendy, thank you so much for all your Hourglass block tutorials - especially the great squaring up instructions. Your tutorials saved my project! I was making a baby blanket with stars made out of Hourglass units. The test blocks I made kept coming out wonky even though I squared them to size and used the diagonal on my ruler. After watching your detailed instructions, I realized my mistake was not paying enough attention to where my outside lines hit on my block, so one side was slightly bigger than the other. After using your instructions, I was able to get beautiful Hourglass units that fit into my block perfectly. The quilt looks beautiful with my points matched. I even went back and took my wonky blocks apart and cut them smaller than the original blocks, and incorporated them into the backing. Thank you so much for your tutorials!!! ❤ 😀

I don’t have that many ufo’s yet but I’ve been making HST’s and collecting them for a quilt at some point.
@WendyJHaney2 күн бұрын
good for you! When I end up with extra HSTs (or what ever), I throw them into a small bin. Doing KZbin videos I end up with lots of 'orphan' blocks, most of them not even matching fabrics. Some day I'll figure out what to do with them!! Thanks for watching! So glad you found this great hobby in your retirement. My husband helps with embroidery work and will eventually do the longarm quilting also.

I am overcome with scraps….
@WendyJHaney2 күн бұрын
Oh, I totally understand that one!! Here's a link to my video on scrap management kzbin.info/www/bejne/goKtonltr5mEb80 But... I organized by size based on that video, but lately, that has frustrated me based on how I'm using my scraps. Often times I'm looking for colors that go together, so I want them organized by color. I have since switched my organizing to place colors in a single bin... I now have bigger bins!! Will see how that works for me.

Are there rotary cutters for left handers?
@WendyJHaney2 ай бұрын
A number of rotary cutters out there can be switched around for left or right handers, just by changing how the blade is put onto the rotary cutter. Be sure to read the information on the rotary cutter before buying, just to be sure.

11 inch 3 block in block, check Deb Tucker stacked squares. 11 inches is a odd size.. With her system there is very little waste . Just did a throw storm at sea which uses 4 square in a square and 4 diamond rec's in each block the throw required 120 squares and a 120 diamond rec's. Her tool as she calls them were worth every penny.
