This version is better than the sound track if I am not mistaken as the orchestration is much stronger. The flip side of the 45 vinyl was part 2 continued much the same.

Hard to believe that these guys weren't a hit machine - together anyways. Buffalo Springfield did well as did Poco. But those were different bands. Decent song nonetheless. metaltomotown

I learned to play this on the piano (by heart as a kid since I could not sight read). Now I am retired and would love to realearn it but I lost the sheet music somewhere along the way! Do any of you have a way for me to get s copy of the piano sheet music for this theme song that still brings tears to my eyes even though my hands have forgotten the notes?

The film score really influences my original compositions that are very modern. It’s also experimental I find some of the music for experimental and really fantastic. The cinematography was absolutely phenomenal just saw imaginative everything… the narrative, the script was absolutely a masterpiece. It’s definitely inspirational.

Not "everyone" is innocent, especially Quint & Miss Jessup. I don't even like horror stories but I read the book (The Turn of the Screw) as a child, and Kerr carried the movie so very well. It's worth a watch!

I watched this movie again just yesterday and I did take notice of the fact that Miss Giddens is wearing all black towards the end of the movie instead of white as she does in the beginning. It will always remain one of the best horror movies I have ever seen and I feel that upon repeated viewings, I will discover something I haven't noticed before.

Come back here to listen to this song often. Was a college freshman at U. of Maryland and SHF played Cole Field House for the free beginning semester concert in '74. Brings back a lot of great memories. Too bad they never got the attention and radio play they deserved. Furay's singing is still awesome!

Sadly, we see this type of mental deterioration and its disastrous consequences in the recent Lori Vallow Daybell child murder case and the Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt child abuse case. These tragedies were rooted in religious mania; not Freudian, sexual repression.

Saw this film for the first time three weeks ago. Very Atmospheric and the children played the parts that you were not quite sure if they were evil or not. You could feel the genuine fear of the governess.

I recently watched this brilliant film again and it is so cleverly done and the actors were brilliant, Deborah Kerr so beautiful. The story still gives me the creeps after all this time. If you haven’t seen this amazing film, you must watch it. ❤

I've seen both this film and the 2002 film. Both I equally enjoyed very much. The soundtrack to this one is fantastic. And the special effects were equally good for the time!

What I struggled with was why Miles died.
@DavidBrusewitz
@DavidBrusewitz 2 ай бұрын
One could theorise that the only thing keeping Miles alive was in fact the ghost of Quint possessing him. This does dispel any ambiguity about the true nature of the horror that takes place, but I believe the scene where Miss Giddens encounters Miss Jessel in the schoolroom has that same effect.

Unfortunately,the film couldn't be made in today's highly restrictive culture. Imagine Charlize Theron kissing a young boy as Deborah Kerr does in this fantastic movie! She'd be drummed out of the business.

It's amazing how scary a game of hide and seek can be in an old creepy house. There's a similar scene in another black and white classic Dead of Night. One of the films stories involves a game of hide and seek.

Fond memories and a great place to see a concert. Did you see any shows at The Carousel Theater in Orange County, Ca. before it closed? The stage was circular and spun around while the bands played. Molly Hatchet and Pat Travers Band double billed. Great show! metaltomotown

I think one reason both The Innocents and The Haunting (Julie Harris version) were successful are being so frightening is that they are in black and white.

While the original novel and the play were mentioned, nothing was said about the chamber opera "The Turn of the Screw" by Benjamin Britten written and first performed in 1954, 7 years earlier than the film, regarded as a masterpiece and still in the repertory. I would love to know whether it had any influence and, even if not, how the opera and the film compare in their treatment of the story. Having seen both several times, I got the impression that they were quite similar in a number of ways.

"From East to West" Imagine a revelation of thought. A human mind. A time machine you can watch like a vast television. On the main channel that we live through the arrows of time. With your remote control you can go forwards or backwards. Now imagine just the way you picture a figure of graphics. Before you paint it on your canvas. It is your decision as to how it will look and... You can change it as you create this movie within the medium. Now within this time machine you manipulate. At any point while traveling forwards or backwards. Paradoxes are as common as the simple gesture of feeding a bird. And...at any given point you could then travel off into a completely different direction. Therefore, changing the future of what you will then see on that given channel. Changing the actual channel, you are seeing before you. The possibilities are then endless. Now imagine that every human with a brain that you are distant viewing. Is a walking endless set of paradoxes waiting to change destiny at your own desires. The roads that can be taken might be manipulated by traveling both forward and then back again to change the outcome to your own desires. Very much like creating a dream within someone's sleep. By projecting the movie that you visualize down inside them. You will be changing either the past and then the future path. Now if while viewing any one of the endless branches of the tree of life you are creating before you and that individual. You should be lucky enough to have a remote control within your hand. If you should witness an atrocity. And should make the decision to stop the "play" or "movie" that you are creating within your mind. The question is...Should I then change the outcome to be one full of life's riches? Or would you allow destiny to take its course? In its own way. Now imagine while sitting at your control board. While changing the channels. From one human to another within their minds that you view. That you might find greatness and riches. Or wars. Would you let them be the ones that are great? Would you let the wars rage on to see what the outcome brings? Now imagine leaving all conscious morals aside. To go further than anyone has ever seen. Or backwards to the BIG BANG. To how it was all created. Or how will it. If it does all end. Could making a decision like,feeding that bird. Change everything?

This film scared me out of ten years’ growth when I was a kid. Really traumatized me. Cool fact; years later, I worked at a travel company and the guy who interviewed and hired me was the son of the music score writer of this movie! The music is what made this movie so terrifying for me as a kid.
