On this day in 1969 {May 4th} Julius Wechter & the Baja Marimba Band performed "Comin' In The Back Door" on the CBS-TV variety program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'... Six years earlier on December 15th, 1963 the song entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #96; seven weeks later on February 2nd, 1964 it would peak at #41 {for 1 week} and it spent 9 weeks on the Top 100... And on the same 'Sullivan' show the band also performed "Big Red", it was a track from their 1968 album 'Those Were The Days'... The band had three other Top 100 records and all three were covered versions; "Ghost Riders In The Sky" {#52 in 1966}, "Georgy Girl" {#98 in 1967}, and "Along Comes Mary" {#96 in 1967}...
