Nicely put together. I’m living in Port Vila, from Aus, lots of lovely yachts here for the season. I’ve been wondering how long it would take to get back to Aus by sailboat, now I know. Looks like you came from Santo. Last few weeks the wind has been strong out of the south east, south west, there are whitecaps on the ocean most days and large waves. Looks like you had a favorable window for your crossing (mostly). Nice wan!!

Amazing what you can capture on a mobile phone, but it still doesn't reflect the horrific nature of those conditions. As for the music, trance needs to be turned up loud to fully appreciate it - or you can of course use the mute button 😉

Hi I’ve just fitted very similar vinyl teak deck can I ask how is yours to clean ? The texture of mine is like un sanded wood and everything sticks to it like bloody Velcro I had to use jet wash just to get seagul shit off it !

Cleans off easy enough with a good scrub, failing that you can give it a hard sand and looks like new.

Why did you add a layer of glass? Was that to cover the multiple holed better or structurally required after the wood was taken off?

I had teak on the coachroofs which came off and the gelcoat underneath was cracked. As I was applying gloss and non-skid to the coachroofs (rather than NuTeak), they were stripped back and glassed to prevent the cracks coming through the paint. On the rest of the decks, the holes were countersunk and filled with a glue epoxy, then sanded and primed before gluing down the NuTeak.

Heya, a correction here: Mount Maunganui is not a volcano, it is merely a mound resulting from a massive eruption that was centered in the middle of Tauranga inner harbour (the crater) just south of Rangiwea Island. There are several of these mounds around such as Minden outlook and Karewa Island out to sea. Thanks for the cool video of the deck refit of your Hallberg-Rassy, top job done by Marra Marine 🙂

I had Nuteak on my catalina 380 for 13 years and loved it. The nuteak distributor in Oriental had to declare bankruptcy due to a failure of an installation on a 40' sailboat. I suspect it was the glue. I really loved my nuteak
