Thanks for the great video! One of my favourite birding spots. I think the Orange-breasted Sunbirds move to higher altitudes at this time of the year. I hiked up Table Mountain via Platteklip Gorge last week and saw TONS of them. Even saw a few on the top.

Hi Shaun, I've never been to Staines Moor. It looks like I need to visit. Great video. You need to buy some Muck boots, which are much better than Wellingtons and will keep your feet warm in winter. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers Shaun, a well deserved cup of tea on the mound. A great selection of birds encountered and it seems the most abundant, was sedge warbler. Pity you couldn't relocate the lesser whitethroat, but they often only give teasing glimpses, then continue to sing frustratingly close but well hidden. They should learn to do a song flight like their cousins, the common whitethroat and the sedge warbler.

Nice! Hope you don't mind me making some comments. Pallid Swift is more abundant than Pallid in most of the coastal cliffs of the western Algarve. Thekla's Lark is also more numerous than Crested, which is mainly along the coastal parts, Thekla's being the most abundant inland and only at the coast from Lagos to Odeceixe. Short-toed Larks are not so abundant, mainly along sand dune habitats, the biggest population being on the grasslands of the Sagres peninsula, sensu lato. Calandra Lark is extinct in the Algarve since some 3 decades or so, only found in the SPA (ZPE) Castro Verde, where its not so easy especially in the summer as the post-breeding flocks they form are spread far apart. Skylark has its only breeding population in southern Portugal on the Sagres peninsula. I would highly recommend a trip in late spring, when its the best time to find all the breeding species in inland Algarve, many of which are not on the coast (or hardly).
