Thanks for the video! I live in Argentina and my husband is from here. Our kids have dual citizenship. We are considering homeschooling next year but need to figure out all the details because as far as i know, it is not technically legal here in our province. I wonder if the embassy could provide some helpful information.

Hello Sara. Congratulations on your content, it has been very valuable to me. I'm Brazilian and I live in Brazil, I'm the father of Helena (3 years old) and Miguel (3 months) and I'm studying to start homeschool with Helena. I've watched more than 100 videos and the vast majority talk about HS in families with 3, 4, 5 or more children. Of course, with a 3-year-old child who sees his other siblings already sitting at the table doing HS, it becomes easier. I haven't seen anyone talking about early pre-k (no older siblings). At the moment, I'm trying to choose a curriculum to start with and digital options seem like the best option, since I can't get books from some brands that only sell print. I'm having a little trouble with this part. There are no words for the quality of your content. May God bless your family.

have you made the any more of these? I love this and I teach Special Ed students - Elementary aged - and I have a group of students that are ELL - with SLD/ communication combinations so hand cues to remember grapheme-phoneme correspondence as we introduce more patterns have been so beneficial. I am looking for something to help students remember the two sounds y can make at the end of a word. (We have this motion for vowel sounds for them to remember the two sounds the letter "a" can make - hand close to chest (closed syllable) /ǎ/ - hand straight out (open syllable) /ā/) - and when the y vowel card appears during the visual drill students start to move their hands 🤓

I loved this video, your boys are so cute ❤.. I’m a grownup bookworm, my grandkids have my Dr. Seuss books from a book club that my mom purchased from over 50 yrs ago.. and I saved a few of my kids books from book clubs that I joined in the 80’s and 90’s.. The fun part is seeing all our names in the books and now I’ve added their names in the books too... Also. I do use Pocketpedia to keep track of my books and I absolutely love it.. It’s an app that sorts and organizes your books based on the info that is entered.. it allows you to create collections and sort different ways.. it truly is so much better than the spreadsheets I was using .. Thanks again for sharing this video❤

My favorite place to buy books for gifts is from Kohls Cares.. They sell books and stuffies for mostly $5 each and the books that I’ve gotten have all been hardcover.. One Christmas they had the “If you give a Mouse a Cookie series “ …I got my 5 Littles each a book with the matching character , they loved it…. My favorite used online store is Abe books but I will definitely start comparing prices and checking out the references you listed.. I’ve also found gems in antique stores .. Not necessarily antique books but used ones in great condition for $1 each.. Thankfully my daughter welcomes used books and applauds me when I find a great deal..Every video I’ve watched of yours is like a little gold nugget of information ❤

Can you do a video of how to purchase purely preschool I’m so confused by her website
@MyHomeYourHomeOurHome
@MyHomeYourHomeOurHome 3 ай бұрын
Hi! I understand that it can be confusing to navigate from the page that Google has tagged as the landing page for "Purely Preschool." Here is a direct link to the products: www.wheredyoulearnthat.com/shop/purely-preschool. If you click on a unit and then scroll down through the description of the product, there is an "add to cart" button. Then click the icon of the shopping cart on the top right-hand of the page. There, you can complete the purchase. Let me know if that is still confusing, and I can possibly make a video short about purchasing the curriculum. 😊

Both of my boys were itching to do school by 2.5…. Especially my second son who knew exactly what “school” was, but my first son was right on board and loved every “school” activity we did. I should probably make a curriculum video again 🧐 it’s been a whole year 😅 This fall, I’ll have a 3 year old preschooler and a 5 (nearly 6) year old “official” kindergartener (although the grade level work he does is literally all over the place). These are very fun ages to teach. They both LOVE science… astronomy and anything bug related.

I'd love to watch an updated curriculum video! I miss watching your content and was thinking about you the other day. 🥰 That's awesome that your boys have both been so eager to begin school! And I'd love to hear what you're using for astronomy! My soon-to-be kindergartener is very interested in the solar system, and I haven't yet researched something for us to study together.

@@MyHomeYourHomeOurHome A while back I purchased several of the apologia books deeply discounted just to have as a reference. I don’t fully agree with their theology, so I didn’t think I’d use it, but my son found the book and LOVES it. He read through most of the Astronomy book on his own, and was asking me for materials to do the experiments. I went ahead and got the kit from natures workshop so it could all be together and now we are working through the the curriculum basically as written. I actually really like it for a lot of reasons. If he were a 5th or 6th grader, I don’t think I’d love it, but it’s perfect for him right now. He is also reading the bug sections of the zoology 1 book to little brother, and they both love it and learn from each other 😍 I’m almost totally uninvolved with that but the only activity we are doing from that curriculum right now is raising caterpillars for painted lady butterflies. I can see us repeating that activity next year. Other than that, my boys just spend a lot of time catching bugs with their friends after church. I tried NOEO science chemistry 1 for grades 1-3 and I don’t like a lot about it (the usability or questioning format) even though I technically don’t have any personal conflicts with the content they teach. We also have enjoyed the memoria press kindergarten enrichment science books which basically is a broad exposure to general science and nature study through picture books (that usually closely correspond to their literature picture book for the week) with very simple activities. Their picture book selection is top notch for both literature and science. This has given my son a broad exposure to a variety of topics but doesn’t really deep dive into anything, which I also think is generally appropriate for this age. My son just enjoys the books for topics that don’t fully resonate with him but he devours and rereads the books over and over for things that spark his interest. He just asks more and more questions and does his own deep dive. Apologia + memoria press really has been a good fit for our family.

Also would LOVE to hear more about the research on teaching preschoolers to read!! I've been feeling pressured not to teach my preschooler who is VERY eager to read!
@MyHomeYourHomeOurHome
@MyHomeYourHomeOurHome 3 ай бұрын
Sorry you're feeling pressured not to let her read. I'll have to do some digging to find the research again (it was probably 2013 that I did it--crazy how long ago that feels!). But from what I remember off the top of my head, the heaviest objections to teaching reading to toddlers/preschoolers were 1) not wanting them to advance to content that might not be age-appropriate (for example, not having challenging reading at their maturity level), 2) not tiring them and causing them to have learning exhaustion, and 3) not relying on memorization. None of those are, in my opinion, absolute barriers to doing something. There are ways to avoid all three of those pitfalls. (And I'm also not super against memorization in many cases.) The benefits, of course, are the same as for any other age group. And you also have the additional benefit of natural curiosity. ;) I'll try to find the research and add this to my list of videos to make.

We started with Sonlight T (half way thru by the guide). Started T again without the guide. Added G&C preschool and did almost all the handicrafts (girls 2&4), all of 22 units and all 26 books. Loved Preschool Math at Home and All About Reading Pre-reading. Began Sonlight P. Stopped PMAT half way and began Kindergarten Math with Confidence. Finished Pre-reading and began AAR level 1. I’m planning a similar mashup for next year. Adding Beautiful Feet Seasons Afield because they love art activities with science.

I would love to see your dream preschool. I've been looking at each of the curricula you've mentioned - have G&C preschool, have most of the Sonlight books but definitely wanting something more active for my almost 3 year old. I'd initially thought Playing Preschool was too "gimmicky" so your review is encouraging as someone who appreciates (appropriate) rigour
