The question I had was, what if I start an LLC in the state (say Virginia) where my property is located and pay property taxes, but live in another state like Mississippi. Do I have to register my LLC in MS as well, just because I live there? I know I have to pay income taxes in MS from income generated from the property.

For this reason, an LLC or any other asset that you wish to protect from lawsuits and creditor’s claims is better served by being transferred to an irrevocable trust that cannot be accessed to satisfy a lawsuit or judgment.

LLC will pay more property taxes. LLC by definition is a company, not asset protection mechanism - not a good idea. Where are you making money for your company-a LLC? are you ready to pay very high income taxes.
