When To Use A Holding Company For Asset Protection

Can you use a holding LLC to own your operating LLC, but lease the equipment from the homding LLC to your operating LLC, or loan the money from the holding LLC to the operating LLC? Trying to further protect the equipment from a lawsuit against the operating company, particularly for states like NY. For estate planning, I was considering a revocable trust that own a WY holding LLC for charging order protection, which owns a NY operating company. Id like to either rent the equipment or loan thr money to the NY LLCbfor the equipment, because NY is not much better than doing business in China. Otherwise I'm considering a NV C Corp with charging order protection.
