I tend to think the sticker would be better preserved being removed, so it doesn't get faded or worn out by your hand, or cause uneven discoloration of the battery cover plastic. I always put them on wax paper so they're removable again and keep them in the box. I would also do what the instructions say and charge a brand new battery for 24 hours before using it. If you interrupt it, the battery may never realize full capacity. Interesting that the "screen" is white on this one. Also I think the buttons on the bottom do in fact have combined functions on the screen model, but on this one it was a stretch to find functionality for every button. That's why the ringer has its own button too. Very cool piece. Definitely my favorite cordless phones to use because of the ergonomics.
@Classic_Electrics14 күн бұрын
Yeah, and that’s a great idea with the wax paper, but the last time I tried removing a sticker from a handset, it was pretty much ruined. I haven’t used this phone too much, but maybe I’ll try using some alcohol to get it unstuck. Yes, I started always doing that more recently after this video was recorded. I have tried the battery in another phone, and it seems to be working pretty well, so hopefully, I didn’t ruin it! Thanks for letting me know. I agree, and was surprised to find that color difference after looking at the box again. That makes sense about the buttons, thanks for telling me. And I actually found a listing for the screen version NIB, but it’s kind of expensive, so I may not end up getting that particular one. Thanks! Agreed. Although the earpiece isn’t quite as comfortable as the EXP7900. But I do love a good, wide, sturdy phone.

Great video of the checkouts on the Uniden DWX207 & WXI577 the T!
@Classic_Electrics17 күн бұрын
Thank you, the Aaron! I really love these phones, but in addition to the burned-out backlight diode on the WXI477, it seems that either the DWX207 itself or maybe the battery I put in it has a loose connection, as it does weird things when dropped (including making the screen cut out similarly to the infamous Panasonic display problem, but again, only if it’s being jarred).

@@Classic_Electrics usually ? it is like to call classic telephone unit as pre-smarthone. BoomBox is name from early 2000s, and it was about small cheap CD/casette player, with small speakers (2x5/10W) and poor sound quality. Machines of 80s/90s was much more serious devices and better, with higher parameters, 60-100W of speakers power. It is totally different than boombox, if you dont feel diffence just dont make movies about that
@Classic_ElectricsАй бұрын
@@BoogieBMWE34 In my experience, while the term may not have emerged until later on, those cheesy little things don't deserve the name "boombox". They can't even boom, which the actual box-shaped vintage ones obviously can, so I prefer using 'boombox" to describe the good ones, since it really fits them the best (I know the one in this video is not like the '80s ones either, but it honestly sounds fantastic. I can feel the bass from across the room even at very low volumes, and it can get loud enough to be pretty painful without really distorting at all). All the websites I can find about boomboxes (I spent about 45 minutes on that last night, actually!) describe the '70s and '80s as the high point of "boomboxes" (or sometimes "ghetto blasters"), and the '90s and '00s as their turning point, with less popularity, quality, and volume. My guess is, the dumb little '00s devices that had "boombox" branding were trying to oversell themselves (like how the early digital answering machines often referred to themselves as "tapeless", indicating that they were suitable replacements for cassette answerers when in fact, they were not).

Thanks! And that’s great to know, I was hoping something like that would be the case. The people who gave me these were able to locate all the original adaptors, and with (incredibly) the belt clips for the GE and one of the AT&T handsets, so I’ll be making an update video soon. I’ve also tracked down all the batteries on Amazon and will be ordering them in a week or two.

AT&T is spoken "A", "T", "and", "T". :) Thanks for sharing this phone. I'm considering buying a new AT&T 210 phone. I haven't decided yet which brand/model to get for my bedroom. I know I want it to be corded, and probably trimline, though I wouldn't be averse to a standard desk or wall mount Cortelco.
@Classic_ElectricsАй бұрын
Thanks for telling me; I am aware, but a lot of phone people (including me) seem to enjoy deliberately mispronouncing and changing words and brand names. That’s a nice idea. I would recommend a trimline with a backlit keypad for a bedroom. But I would also recommend searching for a cheaper deal than the current 210s sell for. They’re good phones, but nothing like the vintage ones and certainly not worth $20+, though the old ones are getting harder to find in perfect condition.
@20NewJourney23Ай бұрын
@@Classic_Electrics I opted for a Cortelco Trendline 8150 (new, open box) from a seller on eBay. The title states it's white but there is no white option for that phone. The photos show only different angles of the box, not the phone itself, so I'm going out on a limb buying it. The box has a black circle on it, so I presume it's actually black as opposed to ash or red. Seller paid shipping. I paid $17 plus tax. If it's actually new, unused and works well then I'll be happy. I would have preferred the ash color because I live in the desert southwest and dust is a huge problem here. Black will show dust very easily. :(
@Classic_ElectricsАй бұрын
That’s a nice phone, especially if you’re hard of hearing. I will say that black is best for not yellowing over time/with sunlight exposure, but yeah, it does easily show dust. The price was good, though, if it’s unused.
@20NewJourney23Ай бұрын
@@Classic_Electrics It arrived yesterday, yep it's new, unused, and black. It looks dingy now that I've used it a few times (fingerprints make it look kind of matte instead of shiny). It works and feels great on my ear. I'm happy with it. I'll be buying an ash color phone to replace my other phone.

Thank you! Oh no, it's definitely a cheapened-out version of the EP5632, but I still think it's a neat phone. If it retailed for significantly less than the 5632, which I don't know either way on, then I would say it was a good phone. Thanks! Yeah, they really have a special feel to them. But I do notice that they sometimes seem to add a little bit of hissing to the sound quality (not a problem for me, as I find it cool, but it's still kind of odd). That could just be a function of cheaper analog cordless phones, though.
