My problem with acrylic is not that it isn't pretty or soft. It's the environmental impact. It is a huge contributor to plastic pollution.

I was doing fine and then on the second row I got lost. I did the first part it looked right and then I guess she just forgot to give instructions so I got lost. I watched it a couple times and just couldn’t understand what she was doing. 😢

Hello! I am a beginner, just started the foundation chain for 21inches but I need way more that 65 chains to reach the length. Is it a problem? Should I change hook?
@penelope-oe2vr9 күн бұрын
It just not warm enough for where I live. You *have* to use wool, and line hats with fleece too. It's very very cold. BUT for gifts I've learned to use acrylic. No one wants to hand wash. And they lose them too.

Thanks for the informative video! My favorite hooks for the past few years have been the Susan Bates bamboo handled ones. I've loved them, but as I've started working more with small hooks (3.5 to 4) I notice that the tight way I grip the thumb rest makes my thumb a little stiff. So a few weeks ago I treated myself to a metal Streamline Furls hook. They're also inline, and I really liked the size and weight. But within a week I dropped my project bag on a hard floor and the hook bent. Furls has great customer service and will replace it, but I can't invest in hooks that aren't durable. I've been trying to decide what to try next since most of the popular brands are tapered. I've heard the Clover Amour called hybrid and everyone seems to love them, so I think that will be my next purchase.

I started knitting, crocheting and sewing my own clothes because I got tired of never being able to find natural fiber clothes for me and my family within my price range. For example, I am able to crochet 100% wool hats for all of us for less than $7 per hat. Using acrylic yarn defeats the purpose for me.

Are you turning your work after each round? My thumbs are never center to the seam. Or does it even matter that much?
@JustBeCrafty18 күн бұрын
Nope! I'm just working in the round. And because we aren't joining at the end of each round, we're actually working in a spiral, so the beginning of the round shifts its place each round. so you might not be exactly on the center of the seam for the thumb, but you'll want to be close, and adjust where you're at to get close to the center of the seam if needed. What matters most though, is that you line up your mitten decreases for the hand, with the thumb hole you've already made, that's more important than the placement of the thumb hole. So at that point, when your decreasing the hand of the mitten - line it up with the thumb hole so that when you put your gloves on, the mitten will be in line with itself with a comfortable fit and not twisted. Does that make sense?

basically what i’ve learned is each bubble is 3 dc with a chain in between, each chain is a gap or a corner. the pattern is always 3dc ch1, and you do this once on the sides & twice on the corners. always start a round with ch4 (counts as dc) and end with slip stitch to tie off the round

Absolutely LOVE this tutorial. Wow! A question for you about sizing - found the 24 stitches around after the cuff to make too wide of a mitten for my hand, but the cuff size at 16 was good. Can I reduce the 24 stitches, and still get a good result? If I reduced that, how would it change the numbers for the decrease? Thank you so much!
@JustBeCrafty28 күн бұрын
You’ll really work everything the same, the stitch count doesn’t really matter so much. The thumb will require a little more attention, but as for the decreases at the mitten’s top, you’ll split the stitches in half and work the decreases as shown. Just your counts will be different. ❤️

2:16 The first row beginning wasn’t she in the second chain? I think she counted the loop hook, which I know not to. Is that right!?

Hi, I've just come across this tutorial and am excited to try it. My question is this, I don't see (or can't seem to find) where you know what size you should make for yourself? Is it just based on what size shirts you normally wear? Or do you need to measure across your bust line (female) to make sure there is plenty of room? Please can you show me or tell me or explain where I find how to measure so I Know what size to make for myself. Thank you🙂

Excellent video ! Questions: some folks, like you, start on the fourth chain for the first row, while others start on the second. Some folks, like you, chain two at the end of the row to turn, while others chain one. Care to explain those differences in terms of the final product ?
