Hi @harleypub, creating a material with the optimal balance of stiffness and damping properties is a complex challenge, as it requires a deep understanding of material science and dynamics as well as lots of testing, so some of them are not readily available on the market. The first material is just rubber that is used in some competitor clamps. The second material is also a competitor clamp lining (Vibraton) that's been tested and proven to excite the vibratory response rather than dampen it. The third material is our proprietary DamperX™ liner which we have developed over many years with extensive research and innovation.

While it is interesting to amplify vibrations visually like this one has to be careful because you are literally just amplifying frequencies that may not actually exist(noise). The same thing is done with audio and EQ. You can amplify any frequency and make it dominant and obvious but it doesn't mean it was relevant in the original. Yes, by amplify the dominant frequencies one should simply be making the vibrations more visually distinct but one still has to be careful because noise, intermode distortions, etc can give the wrong impressions and many people won't put in the effort to understand what really is going on.

Thanks for your comment. You're right - with any tool, applying it properly and effectively is essential. Understanding vibration basics and the issue at hand is critical to using motion amplification technology effectively. This is one reason why we're using motion amplification as one of several tools in the troubleshooting process.
@MDNQ-ud1ty10 ай бұрын
@@VibrationDynamicsNoise The main issue is really that there will be people either through ignorance or deception that won't. There likely needs to be some investigation in to understanding how one can be sure that the visual effect one scenes can be relied upon as being meaningful rather than an illusion. E.g., How much can one really believe what they see.

Where possible, we recommend collecting vibration data with a traditional accelerometer to verify the values from the motion amplification camera. Using a more conventional measurement approach helps increase our confidence in the values and mode shapes the motion amplification camera detects.

@@VibrationDynamicsNoiseyou are somehow right, however the first principle is to understand which frequency you are interested in, understand the process itself, raw data is useless if you can't filter information that you need. Always when you learn something you start from basics, then you advance to more convenient solutions. In this case, this is a great future if you determine an artificial observer properly

In the vibration analysis, Do you considered cross head pin force coincidence or cumulative with the unbalanced force and couples of the compressor frame?

Please recommend software to analysis of reciprocating pump. Also, Instruments to check the unbalanced forces and vibration in the reciprocating application piping.
@VibrationDynamicsNoise3 жыл бұрын
Wood has developed our own proprietary software for the analysis of pressure pulsations in reciprocating pumps. We can calculate the amplitude of the pulsation waves and determine the forces and resulting vibration in the piping system and make recommendations to reduce the effects of high vibration. (See more info here: www.betamachinery.com/about/research-and-innovation/#a_289). Measuring vibration in piping systems can be done with a single-channel data acquisition system, although a two-channel system has advantages in comparing vibration in multiple locations with a reference point. Measuring unbalanced forces is a much more difficult task. Usually, the forces are inferred from the vibration measurement. Feel free to contact our vibration team at www.woodplc.com/vdn if you'd like to get support for your project.

Is this connected to compressor or positive displacement equipment?that produce high vibration?
@VibrationDynamicsNoise4 жыл бұрын
This piping is part of a bank of heat exchangers, and there is no nearby rotating equipment. The piping is being excited to vibrate by multi-phase flow (gas + liquid together in the pipe, sloshing around). While the pipe supports are sufficient to hold the weight of the pipe, they are not up to the task of restraining piping subject to multi-phase flow excitation. Why not just put vibration isolators?
@VibrationDynamicsNoise4 жыл бұрын
This particular problem is due to resonance of the girder. Therefore, it is better to eliminate the resonance first. An isolator is known as active vibration control. It prevents dissipation of vibrations from the machine to the surrounding (structure). If the magnitude of force from the source is the main problem, an isolator could work.

at 160 Hz the resonance can be found we can see that. but this resonance occurs due to the pulsations. so my question is the resonance occurred in this case should be considered as piping resonance. right?
@VibrationDynamicsNoise3 жыл бұрын
The simulation results show there is a pulsation resonance at about 160 Hz. The frequency domain solver calculates the resonance at a slightly higher frequency and with much larger amplitude than the time domain solver due to simplifications inherent in the frequency domain solver. The time domain solver is the recommended approach for design pulsation controls for compressor and pump systems.
