So, my teacher says not to do the thing where your fingers go from curved to somewhat flattened, but everyone I see flattens there fingers, so I was wondering if there was any actual benefit of it or it was just a personal choice.
@violynnkuo5 күн бұрын
I’m not exactly sure how to respond because there’s probably a very good reason your teacher said what they did and there’s probably a very good reason why you see others playing with what you perceive as “flattened” fingers. It’s likely that there’s a technical detail or rationale that needs to be explained but until I see the example and/or context of your question, I would be hesitant to answer. Yes, it’s true that it’s not a good idea to play with a curved finger that goes completely “flattened” or collapsed but with that said, there is also an intentional choice that people make to play with more of the ‘pads’ of the fingertips, sometimes to achieve double stops (like fifths) better or to achieve a warmer sound from the instrument. It’s hard to say without seeing the example. Hope that helps somewhat? 😅
