Hi Pace, I was researching soldering stations. Your literature references "AccuDrive, Sensotemp, and Thermodrive" but I have absolutely no idea what any of that means and I couldn't find an explanation anywhere, nor its applications (vacuum desolder, tweezers, etc.) nor why you need different ports for those.

Nice vintage pornographic VHS video music. I get it, it's expensive to buy the rights to most copyrighted music.

I’ve been soldering for years. And even in school they didn’t teach at this level of detail. Understanding concepts is crucial, rather to teach and say oh “I just prefer a chisel tip rather than a pointed tip, but others may argue”. Is simply noting that the teacher doesn’t fully understand why they’re using it. Learning through trial and error is great and all but damn. You waste a lot of time and at times never truly understood on why it worked for you. Just imagine you could get this level of teaching on anything you’re trying to learn.

I recall this video(on VHS) from when I was at a small startup 40 years ago. Still some very useful information is presented here.

Genuine question, why can't Americans pronounce soLdering properly? The 'L' isn't silent. As an English speaker 'sodering' sounds weird.

There's a longer, more complete answer available on the Simply Smarter Circuitry Blog, but the short answer is because of some linguistic changes in the 15th century.

This whole presentation is a work of absolute perfection. I feel like we are educated to such a lower standard today than in those days. Is this from the 80s?
@siedstilstra8992 ай бұрын
The trailer mentions 1980. I think that matches most of the equipment being shown in the first part of the video. Video looks like a digitized film reel. Film reels were still commonly used in those days.

Note that the turret at 1:55 is bright, clean and shiny, but the turret shown at 2:05 is visibly oxidized and tarnished, which certainly doesn't help if you want to get a good solder connection. If I was soldering to a terminal that oxidized I would clean it with an ink eraser or a fiberglass scratch brush first, or a fine wire brush, before attempting to solder to it.
