kvm: exists author: this dock lets me easily switch mac/pc with my hands
@mintmindy
@mintmindy 10 күн бұрын
Yes, it definitely exists! I've looked into it and the only model that might potentially work with the Apple Studio Display is the Sabrent Thunderbolt KVM Switch - and that would cost me an additional US$400. (See, this Studio Display will only work with Thunderbolt Cable) Further, the KVM Switch footprint is huge, and I did not want to think about docking it under the desk. Also, I think I read up about the product and some people commented that the switch was slow, or that it was unstable for them. After much much careful thought, I decided that this was the best for my setup (using Mac/PC and a very awesome but troublesome Apple Studio Display) But hey, I might be wrong and other models do exists! It'd be awesome if you could share something that works for my particular setup! And maybe it'll help others who're facing the same problem.

Did you notice the typing on the 16” to be harder. My wrist hurts and I thought was the size and distance but can’t figure out how to fix that
@mintmindy
@mintmindy 10 күн бұрын
Oh that isn’t good news. I haven’t heard anyone talked about that before. But personally, I was very comfortable on the 16”! No problem there! I think there’s a proper ergonomics when it comes to typing - perhaps this article can help you. www.autonomous.ai/ourblog/proper-typing-posture-guide-from-ergonomists

I do love your setup. I'm currently redoing mine. It's how I found the video lol but yea. Great setup. Get a deskmat tho lol

Thank you! I love re-doing my desk setups - it always makes me feel refreshed, and challenges my creativity. Excited for your setup! I swapped out my deskmat for this video because I currently love how it feels when my hands rest on my desk. Also, I kinda like how it opens up my desk space when I removed the desk mat.

@mintmindy I totally get it. I redid my setup tonight. Added a felt desk mat. Oh why did I sleep on that. It's amazing! New desk didn't hurt either lol I'll be making a setup tour soon. Never done it before. But you inspired me. So thank you!

@mintmindy
@mintmindy 10 күн бұрын
I did used to use Grovemade desk mat (they sent them over). But I recently swapped out my deskmat, just to see how it feels. And I love it. It feels real comfy when my hands rest on my desk, without any mat. Also, it kind also makes my desk feels more spacious when I removed the desk mat. But I may go back to using a desk mat in the future! Will update :))

I kind of believe you also need to think about the price/power ratio, because it will be mostly the same, within the same power, only 200 dollars add up will give you a much larger screen, though you have a fare point here that you want to carry it everyday. Another thing about the multitasking, as you mentioned, 16 inch is much better for portable video editing as in those software the panels takes a lot of space, and if you are just doing daily task, I would say the 16 inch is good for 2 windows in one screen, one will be your main working software, another one can be a good reference. Multi-tasking is not about putting as much screen as possible, but it is about when you need some more windows while doing ONE thing, what I like is hold on the full size key, then I can add 2 app in one full screen, then use the trackpad gesture to swipe and only focus on one project a time. So it really depends on your use case, I would personally prefer 16 inch, because if I want to bing the Mac with me, usually I am not just writing and doing some excel, I might do some Lightroom or Final Cut, but I will try to only bring it when I need to work, otherwise the Mac will stay at home or lay in the hostel. Hopefully the WWDC will bring some support of Mac app in iPad, then 13 inch can be a really nice travel companion.

I also recently purchased the exact same model but from Apple refurbished website which covered the height adjustable stand cost. For the impression of using this monitor is just wow. You will never regret what you get if you know the reason why you want Apple Studio Display.

Greetings, the current Ultra 2 on a famy sharing apple setup for the watch to have an independent phone number from the phone will Not allow you to download Spotify to stream music independently on the Ultra 2 Watch as of 04/15/2024. Apparently you can sign up and use the Apple Music on the watch, but for now I am a Spotify user and love that. Will return the AW U2 back to the cell phone carrier. Note if you have a same shared number with the phone plan (Bluetooth or cellular) then I believe you can then independently stream and load the Spotify App. Many Apps on the family setup won't work.

Big facts! I actually went even further with the Macbook Air with the M1, 3 years going strong. The limitations also is a nice way for me to work more efficiently rather than just going HAM on the editing. I even edit my school videos in 4k 30 and it edits way faster than the school Imacs HAHA. Lightweight kings!

Ok.. bought the soundcore.. and had to check my friend who has XM5. Yeah the Sony is definitely better in terms of "SOUND QUALITY" but to be completely honest. I would buy the soundcore over a 400$ Headphones any time. The thing is the FEATURES that the Space One has MORE THAN beats the Sony XM5 by a mile. and as for the Issues 3rd party softwares can BARELY make it good. Worth it in my opinion. specially that head detection is Godsend.

I have an XPS17, but i need a mac for ios development. Went to bestbuy and my first impression when trying the 14 inch was its too small. 16 inch was perfect. BUT i couldnt lift them to feel the weight because they were glued to the table.

Hmm… if memory serves me right , 16” weighs around 2.1kg . The screen size is lovely. But I typically plug it into my monitor if I need a huge display.

Thanks for your video! I just bought a “renewed premium” series 7 on Amazon Because my series 6 stopped working after wearing it to a waterpark.😢 The 7 came with 87% battery life which I’m concerned about, but I really like the upgrades. I don’t think I need to waste $ on the series 9.

I agree that the 16 inch version is a bit too large footprint wise after comparing it to the 14 inch version. Perhaps Apple will bring back the MB Pro 15 inch when the M4 version is released. Then, the decision will be easy.
