Blind wall challenges in cover are great to work on in the off-season. Last day of hunting I hit a green head flying inland from the river to my right up high. He folded and went down in some of the thickest hillside brush you can imagine. Sent my boy off and he worked that brush for 7 minutes and came out with a nice big mallard.

Appreciate your content. It helps a lot. I got my first black lab and training him for waterfowl and it’s been so much fun learning and practicing with him. We’re just doing basic obedience right now at 10 weeks but your videos are super helpful to get an idea of what is ahead. I actually never really loved dogs like most people because of some stuff from my past, long story, but this pup has unlocked my heart. I’m a firefighter and have had a lot of issues with ptsd and panic attacks and this dog and training him has helped me feel happy again. Just wanted to let you know the effect your videos are having on a total stranger because I know they are a lot of work to film and edit. I’ve started making videos for my nonprofit that helps first responders and veterans, and it’s a lot of work. Especially when you’re not the best computer guy. Anyways this is just a very long thank you for the free content you are sharing.

While I love both, I would argue heavily that english labs are harder to train. I think for the average person who doesn't want a gun dog and is not having their lab "gun dog trained", the american lab can be too much. They are high drive, can be very stubborn, need more repetition, and the average person wanting a companion dog will be overwhelmed. English labs are more heavily treat-motivated for training, generally don't need harsher training methods, and with a larger overall need to please. Don't get me wrong, I've had both, and deeply love both. But to say an american field lab is easier to train-maybe if you're working with an e-collar. But if you're talking about CGC work or average everyday Joe training...I'd disagree.

my dog sits on commands but she tends to want to lay down while in the sit command. i try to keep her up but she will pull all of her weight down to lay down.. anybody have any tips to stop this?
@dominiquesydne314627 күн бұрын
Slip lead or prong collar. The prong will allow you to apply significantly less pressure. When she goes to lay down, you apply steady/constant upward pressure on the leash until she sits. After a few dozen repetitions, she’ll understand that you don’t want her to lay down Later on, if you choose to do so, you can overlay e-collar pressure with leash pressure so you can use negative reinforcement from a distance. She lays down, pressure comes on, she sits, pressure is released

I got confused. How many times did you say sit? :)

I get it, but really I think it's just complicating things more to distinguish the "British Lab" from the others. Any breeder, whether in North America or somewhere in the UK, can try and bring out certain qualities in their dogs. Plus ALL labradors go back originally to the British breeders who fell in love with the dogs in Newfoundland Canada, and started breeding them in England. So ....keep it simple. Show dog, Field dog, or a combo.

Once you loosen it, install heat trace line in the inside of the lid. Plug it into a capacitor then your battery. Next tine you cannot get the lid open, turn on the heat trace and easily warm the lid.
