At least some form of her voice is still here. Even if the whistle isnt functional. Idk if it is. Ive never been there.

The story told at a North Platte Railfest in a You Tube video is that 3710 was sitting in a shop at North Platte while CEO Edd Bailey’s daughter was touring. She was advised that 3710 was scheduled for scrapping the following day. She called her dad to advise him of that plan and he ordered no further steam locomotive scrapping. 3710 and Edd Bailey’s daughter seem to loom large in Union Pacific steam locomotive preservation and I would think that history would make for a great story in the Streamliner, Trains, or Classic Trains as well as a professionally produced You Tune videos. The North Platte Telegraph had an excellent news article documenting the movement of 3710 for display in Cody Park and the consensual use of that article and photos would make for a powerful opening sequence.

Since 2156 is a Y6A, I’m guessing its whistle sounds the same as 1218’s whistle.

Love the vintage films of the steam engines! Thanks. I don't think I have heard those words to Dixie before. I have used Kden Live editing software and it works pretty good and is free.

Super. I have always wanted a fantasy model four truck Shay, Willamette, Climax, or Heisler that had eight wheel ("D") geared trucks. Can you imagine a 32 wheeled Willamette? I bet it would pull the wallpaper off of the wall. 💙 T.E.N.

Very useful and informative video. It looks like you've done your research. That said, it didn't need the filthy language. You should have gone without, because there are better ways to get your point across than resorting to using R-rated words. Plus, it makes you sound immature and childish.

Initially I was really interested and intreagued by the topic of this video....the Willamette geared engine. But I've for to say, I stopped the video and didn't bother watching because the stupid pointless rude comments and graphics trashing Lima. I just think the posture and approach trashing Lima with your childish rhetoric vs. simply being professional, sharing the facts respectfully and professionally, and just state that you feel the Willamette was a better design. End it there and bag the drama.

I appreciate the video, but I would have enjoyed it more if the pictures did not appear for such short periods, the constant jumping around was giving me an epileptic episode. I had to constant pause and scroll to really get a good look at some pictures.

The Fetter Challengers are more underrated than overrated, but that's just my opinion

Saturated steam engines use D valves while super heated locomotives used piston valves. What was intended, I think, is that the Willamet had Walsharts valve linkage the Shays were built with Stephenson link. There are advantages to both types of valve linkages but for building a rough service locomotive the Walsharts gear has fewer parts, especially the use of only one eccentric per cylinder. Shays are known for their excellent durability but do have their shortcomings. Having worked on two of these beast I speak from experience.
