Wrong emphasis on Promontory. There's a great website called "youtube" where you can find out how to pronounce words you're unfamiliar with.

I agree with the sentiment about the new players being scared away by the regular players, but this game is far from dead, I never struggle to find a duos, solo or squad match. I see 1 bot for every 20 games I play, also I agree that the game doesn't feel like it used to, the sweats and SBMM have really done with this game what they do with all.

I get it might be a weird cliché, but DDLC does the same thing, you start it either knowing what will happen and yet enjoying the first act, while still being scared by the darker half, or you start it fully oblivious. Even if you are one of these two, you still mourn what you loved at the start, and the feeling is never back.

i love that you kept going back to that video of the car falling infinitely, even though we cant see that it is falling, we can tell using the distance meter, i also love that the distance goes up in between clips, showing that it has been falling the whole time, adding to this whole out of bounds is scary vibe

I avoided this special until now because of how horrible the internet landscape was in 2020-2021 especially and I think I made the right call. 2020 was the absolute lowest point of my life and it was directly related to being "an essential worker." My work was not essential, we were a consulting company. Yet in the state I reside in, the state government wrote the "essential workers" order so ambiguously that we were allowed to stay open despite a HUGE drop off in available work.

Designing a game around what streamers want is a recepie to fail. They play a ton more than the average player, so they want changes from that perspective which often dont allign with stuff the casual player wants/needs

On Erangel and Miramar in the early days there were only pants to loot and MAYBE a revolver IF you were lucky enough to survive the landing after getting stuck up on literally nothing and cutting the parachute just to get 80 fall damage, and so on... After Sanhok came out I didn't play the first 2 maps anymore. There I actually had a chance to gear up and WIN games. It was awesome. Anyone saying otherwise is just lying to themselves.

If you didn't want to watch the full video, for an 8-year-old game with 300k online players only on PC, it's a DEAD game.

Tbe Culling 2 flopped because of the pay-to-play thing they were doing, you'd get a few matches a day before needing to pay real $$ for more matches

What makes the out of bounds scary to me is a sort of reverse existential dread. Most of the games I play have a story to tell, and some of my favorites are ones with worldbuilding and in-depth characters. The illusion of depth and life is presented to me and I gobble that up. However there occasionally comes a moment where I might find myself out of bounds, either by actually falling out of the map or by simply looking away from my screen and remembering that I'm playing a video game. The world I had immersed myself in doesn't exist, the story and people are made up, there is nothing outside of the play space, all that is or was is not real. It's more jarring than anything.

"Act of Love" I have found that, as a whole, Western society has a fear of time leaving us as dust beneath the feet of the future. It is that existential dread that fuels the twin excesses of reckless hedonism and manic obsession. The death of the nuance of the word, "Love" is a tragedy and wound to our collective soul that needs to be addressed. Inability to let go is not the same as wanting to live every last moment of a Love.

And that is to say nothing about abandonware: Games that exist, somewhere, but are neither free to distribute, nor available to buy. They exist in a copyright limbo, forgotten only because of the possessive nature of greed.

When you told us about Chara my heart stopped, months ago I met someone online who was very welcoming and charming, we had a lot of time talking in a discord server where I met him and some day it just stopped. We just stopped talking and I’ve tried to reach out but with no luck, his username was Chara.

I agree with many people in the comments that the ending is more or less realistic, but that is not the reason we create stories like these. You can make a realistic ending that makes you happy or sad, but Firewatch ending was just plainly dissapointing. A movie like La La Land has a realistic ending, but the audience does not feel dissapointed at the story. Sure they are sad that the characters dont end up together, but they liked the story anyway. Firewatches ending makes you dissapointed. Not dissapointed at Delilah, but dissapointed at the writing. We make movies, books and games to take us away from the often dissapointing reality, and games that makes you think something is going to happen for the ending to be so abrupt are dissapointing games. I think watching Jacksepticeye play the game you can see what I mean, how he goes in 15 minutes from focus, tension and excitement to dissapointment.
