They used to call this kind of bike an ATB [All terrain]. 2.4" is ok for long distance, summer & mid-season but for shorter rides, winter mud, rocky roads, or just comfort, consider 2.6 or 2.8. This bike will do 2.6 with fenders and 2.8 without [according to surly] - but you might need a 35mm set of rims to get the best out of the tyres. I have a Marin version of this which came out in 2016 & has now been discontinued - other bikes like this are the Bombtrack Beyond+, the Giant fathom 27.5, Surly Ogre. Spa cycles and Thorn are worth a look too. If you are new to adventure touring I'd start with the Bridge club and if it goes well - upgrade the rims to 35mm with hope hubs etc rubberwise I find Maxxis rekons the best blend of grip and speed but they are not cheap.

A Dawes in name only. No longer is it a British designed and built bike, of outstanding quality. Now it's just a Chinese/Taiwan made clone with a Dawes sticker on it. Please stop selling this rubbish and start insisting on great British bikes made in Britain again. To outstanding quality.

I have a Ghostgrappler with drop bar and Shimano 38 to 11.51 drivetrain and a 4 piston brake. 29er wheels with fast tires. Fast enough for the road, agile enough for the slope. Comfortable seating position and absolutely smooth running. I love this bike.

Would upgrade to the Gestalt 1, because it also has a carbon fork which saves weight and adds a lot of comfort.

You need to remove the battery and check the brand and spec details. Most likely it won't be the brand name of bike but an electronics brand that make batteries for electric powered devices
