there's a lot of people that think elytra's make the game too easy, so they don't use them a lot of people don't like the new combat system, so they play on version 1.8 some speedrunners don't like calculator bots, so they don't use them the best part about Minecraft is if something is considered "not cheating" but you still don't like it, you don't have to use it

Press F3+1. The key combinations sees to have changed. I didn't find the key comb to increase the render distance by one.

I madee a lucky world i had a buried treasure at spawn,spruce village near spawn, lava near spawn, found a jungle temple, found a abandoned dessert village, a dessert village, a dessert temple, 4 ruined portals, oak village, and 2 more buried treasure, oh yeah I forgot there is a ruin near spawn and another one I found not near spawn and i prob missed 10

If you are cheating like this, why not just cheat to the point of having the chest outlined ?

Because this isn't cheating. Having the chest outlined would require an external software (hack client) or to have cheats enabled & use a bunch of commands. This uses what's available to the player in a standard survival world, anyone can do it. As well as it actually takes skill. Professional speedrunners have to practice this technique in order to be able to do it consistently & quickly. A highlighted chest requires no skill.

easier way: 9 9 chunk coords... not guaranteed, but you can reset the run if you're on an island anyways

by that logic wouldn't pressing F3 to look at your FPS/coordinates/etc also be cheating? lol

@@notPenney Yes it would be. Like it or not, it is a debugging feature. If it was meant to be looked at in normal gameplay, there would be an actual place for it in the UI without having to trigger it. Also, it wouldn't take up 30% of the screen.

@@gorrevisor You're allowed to not use it if you think it's too "cheesy". But saying it's "equal to any hack/cheat" is just blatantly wrong considering it's a feature that is built into the game and is available to everyone. Also, this entire video is just describing a speedrun strategy that is used in official, verified, world record speedruns and is considered "not cheating".

@@notPenney Listen, I am not trying to argue with you. As you mentioned, the only thing that matters is that the community has decided that this is allowed in speedruns. In my opinion, it should not be. It trivialises a number of aspects of gameplay. It should not be possible to be able to guess a treasure chest just by enabling some debugging tools, in-built or not. The majority of classic games have a "godmode" in them which could be enabled by typing in a string in the chatbox. For me, that is the same thing as this.

question! every time i look at my chunk coords it only changes when i move over a chunk, not when i move over in the middle of a chunk, do i need to find a chunk that is 9 X 9?
