Did you start the hike down from the official view point sign? not really right? It is more like navigating through the boulders down to the glacier, right? or is there a marked trail down, and if so, do you remember where it is?
@chamonixTrails3 ай бұрын
The trail to the glacier is not an officially marked trail. It is often used however so it should be easy to identify. The starting point is before the official view point marker if I remember correctly. I do have to mention that going on the glacier without a guide is generally not recommended. We followed the large guided group that you see in the video.

@@chamonixTrails Thank you, I was there a few weeks back with my (rather tenacious) 6-year-old, and we hiked from the bottom using this beautiful forested path instead of the road from Argentiere. I wanted to reach the glacier and I started following this trail down where I saw some youths with ropes (100m or so before the view point, you can see the split in Komoot) but it was going forward almost past the view point so we had to hike up straight up to it through the rocks. I suppose I will try next time.

Roughly 10km between each aid station is pretty standard for these races. I have done races with more distance and vertical gain between stations for sure

@@chamonixTrails And I have done a lot of mountain marathons in Austria and 3 aid stations are very definitely not the standard for that kind of distance. In fact the last race I did in Austria was 23 k and had 3 aid stations..

Hello, I enjoy watching your videos. They give me an idea of what to expect and if I'm up to it. This hike to Argentière glacier has been on my bucket list for a few years now, but it seems that the cable car to Plan Joran is still closed for renovation. Is there another way to reach the glacier with a little help? I don't see myself hiking all the way up from the village.
@chamonixTrails7 ай бұрын
As far as I know the Plan Joran lift will be open this summer from Mid June and its the gondola you would use to reach the start point for this trail. The Grand Montets lift is still being rebuilt after the fire a few years back

@chamonixTrails6 ай бұрын
It was my first time and I am not a super experienced runner to be honest. It helped me greatly to plan out the segments, have a goal time per segment and memorize the nutrition and HR targets for each segment. Breaking it up that way was helpful I felt. For the second half it all went out of the window and it just became about determination. My number one tip would probably to just not give up unless you get an actual injury. Just always think in the low moments "this too shall pass" and then eventually it will.
