Must be new money if he is the owner, that accent in no way what so ever screams 23 million. Screams Liverpool. Would of bern nive if someone told him not to pick ones nose on the fancy boat either…

The drama is because this is the home port of the owner's side chick And his wife does not believe him that he needs to go to the shore for a few hours because he has a business meeting that he must attend.

These yachts are getting longer and wider but nobody is making the spaces wider for them to dock, it's ridiculous. This crew were very professional but I recently saw a crew who were totally useless and the yacht had heaps of room either side but it still took them 3 times longer to "park".

When docking, rule #1, never go faster than you need to, or at such a speed, you'll do damage to boat or anything else in proximity. Safe docking is not a race.

Possibly malfunctioning bow thruster, can’t see it working. And captain being very careful. I can’t drive parallels with driving a normal 50ft but when coming alongside I just drive bow into the pier at 50-60 degrees and turn full when few feet left. It parks itself nice. But of course it is a totally different game with massive weight, huge superstructure and wind buffeting.

That was a win actually, it didnt look sexy but they got along side eventually with no damage, there is no context as to what happened at the start of the video.

Being it's such an open docking area....perhaps the captain is allowing a junior officer have a try docking in the wind under supervision

I wouldn’t call it a failure at all It is obvious that something is preventing him from using the bow thrusters and he might have one engine down

This is not a failure. A captain once told me you aren't an asshole until you hit something. If this guy docked without a scratch, then it was successful. He was fighting a wind off of the dock. What he should have done was attach a mid ship line to a forward cleat on the dock and then use his starbord reverse prop to pull his stern into the dock but that is easy to say from my couch.

Slow is Pro. Yes, he may have made mistakes, but there was no damage and all was well at the end. Are you a Superyacht (or higher) currently a Captain, as you seem to have extensive verbal experience in how to dock a Superyacht in windy conditions...?

I'll say!😅 I mean, it's a lot of boat, but it's not the Queen Mary! He seemed to be afraid of the dock, even though the wind was blowing him off of it. It's also one of the ugliest yachts I've ever seen in my life. The lines aren't great to begin with but, who's bright idea was the Battleship Gray?
