23:26 That’s a great paint scheme. I Like the champion paint as well but they did a good job on the Ferro East Coast scheme. I still haven’t caught 430 yet in person but I haven’t been trackside in a while. Now I just need ScaleTrains to make a HO scale RC version of it.

Top notch, as always. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through these videos! How often do you see or encounter alligators while railfanning these spots? Seems like prime habitat for them.
@floridarailfan5 күн бұрын
I’m glad somebody finds them useful! Since FEC runs along a lot of salt and brackish water, I’ve never actually seen gators near the coast. They’re everywhere just a few miles inland however, manatee and deer are also more or less common.
@jgbcodemonkey5 күн бұрын
@@floridarailfan Very interesting! I wouldn't have guessed about manatees. Seeing the wildlife would be just about as fun to me as watching the trains go by!

I always love seeing vintage EMD power. Those GE's look pretty sharp in that new FerroMex inspired scheme although I think I prefer the vintage Champion scheme. It's tough. I like modern and classic schemes alike. Hope they keep at least a few as heritage colors.
@floridarailfan5 күн бұрын
I think a mix would be nice. I’ve always like FXE’s scheme and it looks great on the GEVO’s but I’d hate to see the Champs fade into history. Time will tell I suppose…

Why do people keep saying the name of New Smyrna incorrectly? It IS NOT pronounced as Nū Sûh Murna, it is pronounced as Nū Smurnah. Just like many call Altamonte Springs (Al tuh mont, the e is SILENT) Altamontē (Al tuh mont ee) Springs, which is incorrect. Just something that is a pet peeve of this true Native Born Floridian that still lives in Florida, and doesn't like hearing a lot of our city names pronounced incorrectly, sometimes really horribly.

Quick little correction The whistle on 475 is not an N&w hooter, that is actually a southern pacific 6 chime whistle. Most N&W M class mastodons (including 475) had the 8 Inch Tall variant of the N&w hooter. Some exceptions were made though, as M class 382 had a shop built 3 chime called the “Virginia creeper 3 chime.” Great video aside from that!
