Preaching to the converted here. When I grew up surfing there were no leg ropes, and you had to swim and body surf to shore. You certainly don't need fins, although they help. My advice to surfers is, "If you wouldn't go out without a board, don't go out."
@rangatrips5 күн бұрын
@@CarlosMossman21 Hey Carlos! Im a bodyboarder so I always had fins to help me get to shore. They do help out alot.... almost like it's cheating :) I now do open water swimming and I find that helps to build confidence in the water... knowing you can swim like 5 - 10km without fins if necessary helps alot. You cant actually swim these distances with fins because your legs cramp, so they are only usefull for short bursts of speed. But definitely don't go out if you cannot get back without a board or a plan. Good advice, thanks for watching

@@rangatrips fair play, I am doing some sea swimming as well (something to do on a flat day) but anything beyond 2km is beyond my abilities - what sort of water temps are you dealing with, one issue i do find with bodysurfing is that my temp drops pretty quick (water temp here is 9 degrees) and also are you able to bodysurf in a wetsuit with hood on? Thanks for watching Julien! 2.75m long! Holy cow :) And you imported it to France, you must really love the TAS! The only bad thing with this Tas is that after this adventure sleeping on the rocks, there were small holes grinded from sleeping on the rock. So best to keep the sleeping pad on the outside of the bivvy bag to protect it from the grinding. It works very well defending against the rain (as demonstrated ;) ) , but it's unfortunately not very durable. So look after it, and I suppose can be repaired pretty easily the small holes. Stay safe !

Bivvy have their place, but in there you can't cook or much else. It depends on what you are doing and what you need it for I guess. If you were caught out it might be useful. Those rocks were way more risky in that lightning! Good vid though ! Glad you survived!
@rangatrips2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and your comment mate! Its also country or region dependent. In Australia it's very rare for full days of rain. Usually comes in one massive blast of intense rain. So having a bivvy at all times on adventures gives you confidence that you can survive the "weather bomb". Cooking etc does'nt matter when this kind of weather hits. Sometimes the winds can get extreme when the storm hits, and that would destroy a tarp or tent. But my favourite is to Open Tarp camp , or hammock I find I get the best sleep!
