Join me on an unforgettable solo beach camping adventure! The day kicks off with me behind the wheel of my van, heading down to the coast. As I drive, I share my plans for an epic outdoor escape that combines boogie boarding, hiking through stunning Australian scenery, and some classic cowboy camping under the stars. The weather is absolutely perfect - the kind of day you dream of for an outdoor adventure - and I’m excited to take you along for the ride.
The first stop on this trip is all about catching some waves. I park near a secluded beach with beautiful blue waters, and it's boogie board time! The water is crystal clear, reflecting the sky’s bright blue, and the waves are just perfect for riding. For hours, I get lost in the motion of the sea, feeling the thrill of riding wave after wave on my board. There’s something incredibly freeing about being in the ocean like this - it’s just me, the board, and the power of nature.
After wrapping up my boogie board session, I pack up and gear up for a hike. My destination is a 12-kilometer trail that hugs the coastline, offering incredible vistas of beach landscapes and forested areas. As I walk, I encounter open grassy plains where kangaroos hop around in their natural habitat, not seeming to mind my presence. It’s one of those moments that reminds you why you go out into nature - to experience the raw beauty of it all.
The hike isn’t just about pushing through; it’s about soaking in the surroundings. I pass through stretches of dense bush and open landscapes, all while hearing the distant crash of waves. The whole scene feels so peaceful and wild. As the afternoon heat starts to rise, I decide it’s time to take a break and rest. I find a nice, open spot and lay out my gear. Lying back, I’m instantly reminded of my 700-kilometer trek when every afternoon was a time to lay out my equipment, dry it off, and just relax for a bit before continuing. There’s a sense of nostalgia, and I share my reflections about how those long hikes and experiences in nature have shaped me.
The day isn’t complete without a campfire meal, so I find the perfect spot to set up my cowboy camp. Out comes the gear, and it’s time to cook up a hearty vegetable stew. There’s nothing quite like cooking over an open fire, with the coals glowing beneath, and the night sky beginning to darken around you. I chop up fresh vegetables, throw them into the pot, and let the stew simmer as I enjoy the sounds of the wild and the crackle of the fire. The aroma fills the air, and it feels like a reward for a day well spent.
As the stars come out, I settle in under the tarp, feeling the warmth of the fire and the cool breeze from the sea. I fall asleep to the gentle sounds of the waves and the wind through the trees, the kind of natural lullaby that makes you grateful to be out here, away from everything.
The next morning, I’m woken by a perfect sunrise. The sky lights up in shades of pink, orange, and gold, and it feels like the whole world is waking up with me. After a quick breakfast, I pack up my camp, making sure to leave no trace behind. It’s time for the final leg of the journey - hiking back to the van. The return hike is just as stunning as the day before, with the sunlight casting long shadows across the landscape and the scent of the sea ever-present in the air.
Back at the van, it’s time to wrap up the adventure. With the boogie boarding, hiking through kangaroo country, and cowboy camping under the stars, this solo beach adventure has been a refreshing reminder of the simple joys of being in the great outdoors. Until next time - stay wild, and keep exploring.
