Isn't it weird, I spent weeks searching for info on gamma, and found only the same 3 vids each time. Days later, here's helpful gamma videos appearing on their own. At least we know search isn't being manipulated, huh?

Thank you so much for this video! 🙏Now it's easier to understand Color Spaces and Color Management. Is there a part 2? I tried to find it, but no luck. 🙁

Glad you're back Giuseppe. So are you going to continue with the informative VFX videos like this? Regarding this topic, I've never really heard what a Pipeline TD does. I was guessing they write custom scripts or plugins for automation and to find alternatives for technical barriers that shots may have in a traditional pipeline. Or that they just help other artists import and export to other departments?
@g.improductions9 ай бұрын
Hello Stef! Yes, of course, I will continue with these videos and integrate more about shooting and other things as well. I will record a video explaining the pipeline team and the production team as well!

This is a good, technically accurate explanation of gamma. As you say, it all dates back to the early days of TV (1940's) and CRT displays. The gamma value of 2.2 has been baked into the specs since before most of us were born.

Fantastic content and the best explanation (along with the other two lessons) on gamma correction. But I have a question: at 8:00, you raised the jpeg file to 1/gamma, and it darkened the texture. This seems backwards. If the file is a jpeg, it's using the sRGB color space, which BRIGHTENS the image. To darken it, the jpeg values should be raised to just gamma (2.2). How did you darken the image by raising it to 1/gamma???
