Excellent review, strong work. I use the full size SAR bag, which replaced an earlier, Gen 1 Kit Bag that I carried for several years. I ran, mountain biked and hiked with it, but wanted the features offered by the SAR bag. I used the latter for every SAR training exercise and rescue mission I went on, and there isn't anything about it I'd change. It is packed with features and offers a ton of versatility.

I would add a reflective mylar blanket and painters drop cloth 9’x12’ for a super shelter. I would swap out the gsi cup for a canteen cup. Add a Grayl or Sawyer Squeeze filter system. I would consolidate your IFAK into a smaller pouch (separate the bandaids from the blow out kit). Invest in some smaller lighter tent pegs. I would also ditch the compass zipper pouch for Molle too attach to your kit bag or no pouch at all.

Great dive footage, such a beautiful location and cave. I loved the shots of your Shearwater computer. I dove Morrison last month with my 74 year old dad and noticed the Cave warning sign was down. I emailed the county park folks about it and they replaced it with the new sign in the video. (Thank you Walton Parks and Rec and Sheriff Dive team) My old man dove Morrison in 1966-1968 before the lower rooms were blasted shut. It required a "no-mount" gear removal to squeeze through the bubbling section on the video here. My dad said they called it the "Cathedral Third room" as it was bigger than the "second room" seen in the video here. Lot of folks died after sliting out the 130 foot deep Cathedral room in the 60's. Dad said they used multiple 37 cent Fina Gas station flashlights, single regulatar, no wetsuit, no bcd, knife, and sometimes a hemp rope. With the newer modern training, knowledge, and gear I'd love to see the lower sections reopened. I think it was Sheck Exley or some guys before him that mapped the whole thing all the way down to 300 feet where there was nothing but small unpassable vents.

@@PierceClark I had a 12 year old and a 20 year old brand new open water divers with me last month so I didn't go in very far and I wasn't going to set a bad example by going much past the main initial 2nd room entrance around 65 feet, where I consider the end of the "cavern zone." I was wondering from your dives do you think the spring will eventually push the debris back open. I can't help but wonder how much sand/debris is stacked on the air bubbling sections of floor. Not mention how much it would improve the overall flowrate of the spring if it was restored to it's previous state.
@PierceClark4 ай бұрын
@@KlintCochran that's a very good question some days I think it would reopen itself but other days I think will all the sand just rolling back upon itself. Last weekend it did look like it was opening up more but who knows. I guess next time I will take some measurements and compare it over time. Great question and definitely great move on not setting bad example to the younger guys. It's tempting for sure but still very dangerous.

If the floor is floating, you set it up to tight! We experienced this floating too but we figured out it had to do with setting up this tent to tight. You can set it up a bit lower, also recommended by Zpack for bad weather. Plus: with your sleeping pads and quilts and other stuff in your tent, the floor won't float anymore! Four or six extra loops, no way! This doubles this tents weight ;-).

Been using that top left bag with a Velcro holster for a decade. I just use mine for a holster and a few random items while camping. That is way too much to have on your chest for an extended period of time and actually do anything. I would imagine your draw time is horrible with all that extra mass/weight too

Great hack!!! will have to try this with my Plexamid...was wondering...the guy lines on the sides of the tent about half way up. You have those going straight to the ground. Have you tried using a stick and run the guy line away from the tent and over a vertical stick (branch) and then going to the ground to give you a more horizontal pull to open the tent up even more? I did this last week on a backpacking trip and it was a game changer. Really opened up the Plexamid. Anyway...great hack, thank you.
