The bag makes a Great set up for a grab and go kit! A map, spare socks and a few drink powders would help a lot.

I'm looking at this purchasing this pack, hence the KZbin video search. I was concerned that it might be too small for a simple day hike bag, I think you convinced me it can hold what I need. Thanks!

I have a ton of packs and when a friend of mine got this and we both saw how small it was I like this thing is way too small, but after I took it out and packed it out I was very surprised with it. I literally was trying to pack all I could possibly fit into it just to see how it rode and I was very happy with it. I think it would be perfect for a day hike. I find myself overpack with bigger packs and carrying too much weight.

I usually always have it for sure but didn't pack it for this pack. I was just trying the pack out and was surprised what room it had.

@@PierceClark I like this pack very much, but I do not own one! As an "out of the box" thinker, I usually embrace solutions that are not mainstream! I love my Filson Journeyman, the T6zero and my jongle blanket / woobies...but I ordered 2 true woobies from Amazon that are made by the company that makes them fo the us army... I can't wait...!

Hey Pierce, jus wondering if you still have this HPD TARA pack with you? How have you been using it and how has the harness been holding up?

Absolutely still using it quite often to tell the truth it is one my favorite packs. It is holding up very well as a whole. I have a lot of HP gear and use some piece of it almost daily and have had no issues with it. The TARA is a smaller bag for sure, but as you see it can tackle a lot of gear and when I am using a larger pack I tend to over pack it.

hey man i noticed you wearing a kit bag ..all you have to do is take off the kitbag shoulder straps and then the kit bag hooks onto the front of the shoulder straps of the tarahumara pack

Or leave the straps on and use the lifter straps that HPG offers to attach the kit bag to a pack

Wow, that poncho and tent peg combo sounds really heavy (5:48). I would suggest two or three interior bags (Tough Possum, etc.) to keep the contents organized and readily accessible. P.S. 5:18 Isobutane (not propane).

You are correct the poncho and tent peg combo is heavy, but I have in there to use mostly as a poncho. As far as interior bags I have plenty of them I just don't like using them. I did call the isobutane propane by mistake thanks for pointing that out. The whole reason I put the video out was because a friend of mine bought the pack and we both could not figure out what the capacities were of it, so I took it to my farm and packed some gear just for the hell of it.

Will a complete canteen and cup set fit the side pocket?

@@Jared_304 I just tried the canteen cup with canteen and it would not fit. The lip at the top of cup restricts it too much. The only hiccup I have with this pack is the pockets are not stretchy so if you pack the main bag first your external pockets are limited. And if you pack your external pockets first you lose some main bag space. Overall I do like the bag a lot it just takes careful packing.
