The terrain was pretty tricky, so I wanted to make sure I had good footing and knew where I was stepping. I only use my phone without additional gear to record the clips and I was worried I would slip and lose my phone and/or injure myself. I’ll try to provide descriptions or diagrams in similar future situations.

The concrete was the base for a ski lift. The ski area was running in the '60's and into the '70's.

I first hiked this trail in 1979. I became disabled about 25 years ago, so I haven't been able to do much hiking. Thank you for bringing my memories alive.
@StevenCrouch-yh4ox3 ай бұрын
Thanks for bringing back the memories of years past. I’ve done Pugh at least 6 times over the last 50 years. The last time I was 60. Even tried it in winter and got to the top of the glacier, it was bigger way back then. Once the road to the trailhead was closed which made it close to a 7000’ gain and added 2 miles each way. The bit of scrambling always made my heart race. Good times.

The road wasn’t too bad. Some washboarding in a few places and a pot hole here and there, but all are easily avoidable

I don't know if it still does, but the trail used to go beyond Poodle Dog Pass and on to Twin Lakes. It used to be a beautiful hike 40 some years ago.

Is this the best view I can get on a not to cascades hike without getting into mountaineering
@ThePaleHiker5 ай бұрын
I’m not sure if this is the absolute best, but it’s gotta be up there. Another option that doesn’t require scrambling is Mt. Dickerman, which is also along the mountain loop highway. I still have more exploring to do, so I bet there are more options out there

@ThePaleHiker5 ай бұрын
I’ve tried going faster in previous videos, but have found that to result in choppiness and clipping of the video. I’ll keep the speed in mind for future hikes, or maybe even increase to 60 fps.

How is the river crossing?
@ThePaleHiker5 ай бұрын
River crossing wasn’t too bad. The water level is low, and there are well placed rocks and logs that can be used to avoid getting wet. There are some cairns that are good points to follow. The path I took was generally straight across with no weaving or diagonals necessary
@ghost7625 ай бұрын
@@ThePaleHiker I don't know about down there but it's been raining pretty good in Anacortes today. Don't know if that's going to affect the river come this weekend.
