Mount Pilchuck, completed August 30, 2024.
This was my first time doing Mount Pilchuck after it was closed last year for road work. The forest road is in good enough shape that a Honda Fit can make it just fine. This hike is at the beginning of the Mountain Loop Highway and offers a pretty unique combination of views that include the central Cascades, Northern Cascades, the Puget Sound, and south to Mt. Rainier. The scramble to get into the lookout isn't too sketchy, and I believe can be used to camp in over night. Large portions of the trail are still muddy with some pooling, likely leftover from last weekend's rain. All in all this is a decent hike, is fairly accessible, and offers excellent views. I understand now why it is so popular.
