As I discovered that windows 1, 2, and 4 were complete regions, I was able to use a subset of the usual windoku tricks in those rows and columns. By the time I was able to prove that the final window was as well, there was no need for those tricks, since the edge digits had been resolved in other ways. My time today was 8:04, solver number 1369.

Once it was clear that the top two "windows" were "windoku windows", it could be easily shown that the three triples finishing off rows 2,,3,4 formed their own region.

You often say "this is breaking my brain". I too have a similar feeling, but for me it happens when you overcolor. Since I am colored blind it is hard for me to distinguish between the yellow and green that you use and the blue and purple that you use. And my brain gets broken.

Drama... Unacceptable man! You had 5 in COL 1 right at the start so Box 1 could have been solved. But even if you missed that, when you do 6 in Box 4 based on Col 1-3 logic, you NEED TO FOLLOW UP and do 6 in Col 1, right?! That was just unacceptable man.

In 8:06 the elimination of 1's in r2c1 and r3c1 not necessarily implies that the 1 have to be in r1c1. There could still be a 2 in r3c1 putting a 1 in r3c2 and a 3 in r1c2. Then the problem arises with the outside 2 at the botton of column 2.
@blargoКүн бұрын
Yup. Jumped the gun there and got lucky.
@allanfiddlerКүн бұрын
Could r8c1 not also have been a 1?
@blargo13 сағат бұрын
@@allanfiddler No. Because there has to be a 1 in box 1, one of the three 1s in the top left border pointing right needs to refer to that one, so there needs to be a 1, 2, or 3 in r1c1, r2c1, or r3c1. 3 has been eliminated, so it's a matter of determining whether it's a 1 or a 2. The logic shown in the video plus that 2 at the bottom of column 2 eliminates 2 as an option.

The 5 in box 7 was concealing itself. Advice for (newer) solvers: always update your pencilmarks when placing a digit.

21:47 for me. Box 1 could have been more easily solved about 10 minutes earlier by simple sudoku. The 5 in R9C1 looking up at the 5/9 pair you had in R3C1, and the 6/9 pair you had in box 7 (C2) looking up at the 4/6 pair you had in R1C2.

Hi Bremster, love watching your channel! But I sometimes wonder why you leave the conflict checker off. That would often make the solving way smoother and watching your videos more interesting imho (consider, just as an example, how long you missed some trivial things in column 2). After all, the videos are about showcasing the sudokus, and not about your solving / scanning capabilities, if I'm not mistaken?
@BremSterPuzzlesКүн бұрын
I have run several polls on this, and done a few test videos, and every single one of them the overwhelming response was that the videos were much worse with the conflict checker on. Also, this is me enjoying the puzzles, and I don't enjoy solving with the conflict checker on. So if that became the way to do it; I would just stop solving and recording entirely.

Hi! In german i would say: I am standing on the tube ;-) Why can R3C1 not be a 2? Then R1C2 would be a 3 and the 1 would go in R3C2.
@BremSterPuzzlesКүн бұрын
Because of the work done in b4 and b6, we have pointing 2s in c3 looking up from b4, which caused me to look at the entropy the wrong way. You are right the way I pencilmarked the 12 in b1 when solving it is not great and I don't think I did this well. I think the logic is right, but I am not happy with it.
@utkarshverma5223Күн бұрын
@@BremSterPuzzles yeah you skipped the logic to eliminate 2s from c1. A "2" in r1 puts two 1s in b1, a "2" in r2 puts two 2s in b1 and a "2" in r3 makes it impossible to put a "2" in c2 (because of the numbered room "2" clue at the bottom of c2)
@JoachimMeissner-hh7ncКүн бұрын
If 2 goes to R3C1 could the 2 in C2 Not go to R7? My Solution was: After some pencilmarking in R1C1 only 1 and 8 were possible. In C9 1 can only Go to R2 and R3. So there Must be a 9 in R2C1 of R3C1. This eliminates the 8 in R1C1 so only 1 is possible there.
@utkarshverma5223Күн бұрын
@@JoachimMeissner-hh7nc 2 in r3c1 would put 1 in r3c2 and that would put 3 in r1c2 (because of the numbered house clue at the top) and this would conflict with the numbered house clue at the bottom for 2 at r7c2
