I have a very bad problem with Ansul Sentry extinguishers with paint and rust issues for units that are stored outdoors. It always starts on the top/neck of the extinguisher, and the paint chips off in large chunks, allowing the body to rust. Amerex chrome-body extinguishers have proven to be the best for outdoor use, and Amerex offers chrome cylinders as an factory option on almost all of their extinguishers other than Co2.
@FireAlarmDude596712 сағат бұрын
Ansuls have declined in quality recently, the rust is a problem. Amerex brass valve units are the best in my opinion, however no extinguisher should be installed uncovered outside.

People can’t predict the future lmao. Many times developers don’t see how their product will hold up in the long run as certain components don’t age well and it isn’t their fault because again, they can’t predict the future. All they can do is take what didn’t work and improve upon it because that’s just human nature.

These days most call points have multi-use elements in them where when pressed, a yellow bar (sometimes with black stripes) becomes visible and can be pushed back up with the plastic keys as well as plastic shields mounted on the front to stop people accidentally pressing them.

@KevinCoop14 күн бұрын
You did pretty good. Hope you don’t mind some clarifications. A few of the finer points of NEC. The definition of “dedicated” (The National Electrical Code (NEC) defines a dedicated circuit as an individual branch circuit. A dedicated circuit is designed to provide enough power to a specific appliance without overloading the system. It has its own circuit breaker and only supports one outlet, so only one device can draw voltage from it at a time.). The cover on the box that holds the devices are not mud rings. They are surface covers. Emergency lights are not allowed to be switched.
@FireAlarmDude59674 күн бұрын
Good information. I didn’t know that emergency lights couldn’t be switched. In this case, it’s in a residential home so I guess it’s fine since it’s not a required fixture.
@KevinCoop14 күн бұрын
@@FireAlarmDude5967 You are correct that it’s not required. I agree with your comment. But, just so you know, in my 35+ years experience designing electrical systems, if you install something, required or not, you must follow the code. A for instance, if you install a Fire Alarm panel in a office space that does not require one with 1 smoke detector, and one horn/strobe, the fire marshal, and the electrical inspector will require a full blown and installed system. This actually happened. The project manager thought it would be a good idea. Best wishes.
