So to my understanding, Midi Mixer is an app to control windows apps, sessions etc, not to control external MIDI devices via this app then. Correct? I am looking for an app that can custom or has presets to control external MIDI devices. Anyone knows if there is such app? Thanks.

Very clear explanation, I've a question: is it possible to control individual levels of each channel of a 5.1 audio playing (in Windows you've to go to pannel control/sound-> select device-> Levels-> Balance and now you've 6 sliders, but don't know ho to acces from Midi mixer or if it's possible). Thanks !

Thanks man, the GUI is a little counter-intuitive but thanks to your explanation I got it now. :) Saved me $200 for a Stream Deck Plus b/c now I just use my Maschine Studio for volume controls.

I just logged on to YT to say thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for! Is there software like this for Linux? After Win 10 dies, I'm going to switch to a Linux, but I'm worried about finding a software like Midi Mixer on Linux. Thanks if anyone can tell me a good midi mixer fpr Linux.

This is just what I was looking for! Quick question if anyone is still following the comments: any chance to get a "list" of supported devices or devices that work with this just as well as the one in video? Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm new to this. Thank you!

Glad I stumbled across this video, very informative. I have been trying to wean myself off of VoiceMeeter and virtual audio cables for a while, especially as Windows and OBS now both handle audio on a per application level, and this replaces the only function I was keeping VoiceMeeter for - using my NanoKontrol2 to control individual audio levels.

Hi! First, great app, very much enjoying it! Love the idea of crossfading, BUT was wondering if there is a way to change it's implementation. What I'd find most useful (and it's all about me right??? <chirp><chirp> hehehe) ..... Uing comms at top of fader and game sounds at bottom of fader - when fader in middle both comms / game sounds are at their "set" volumes (their assigned strip volume pot level). When i move the slider down past the midway point i want the game sounds to stay at the strips set volume level, but start lowering the coms level. When fader goes above mid point, keep comms volume set to strip level and lower the game sounds level. And of course have it reflected on the "indicators" if present (e.g. X Touch Mini). Watcha think???

You can control submixes (virtual audio devices) from other apps like VoiceMeeter within MIDI Mixer, but MM itself does not create virtual audio devices.

Can I please have your profile for Akai MPK mini MK3?
@gavsmith19803 жыл бұрын
Hi Jack, I've been happily using MM with my Akai MPk49 for controlling Windows audio mixer, but since acquiring an Akai LPD8, my MPK49 mapping has disappeared, and MM is intercepting my LPD8 midi data so I can't use it with other software, I've now remade the previous mapping for the MPK 49, but it seems that because there's an LPD8 preset built into MM, there's no way of having MM running and using the LPD8 with other software, it shows up in MM groups seemingly whether you want it to or not, so I have two questions from this experience: 1 - is there a way to save groups and controls locally instead of the link to share it online? It would have been easier to have had a locally saved file to avoid setting up my MPK49 from scratch. 2 - Is there a way to prevent MM intercepting midi data from devices with presets, and if there's not, might it be an included option in future? I've tried setting the LPD8 as my midi passthru device but I just get an error.
@jackwilliams9393 жыл бұрын
MIDI Mixer sometimes attempts to automatically load profiles if it sees that a supported device has been connected. In the case of your LPD8, I'm guessing it has done this and loaded the profile for you straight away. This is useful if you're only using your devices with MIDI Mixer, but it can definitely get in the way if you want to use them for other purposes too. In the MIDI Mixer's "Profiles" tab, every loaded profile should be prefixed with a small green circle, indicating that it is loaded and the device is being used. For your LPD8 you should be able to select the Akai LPD8 preset and unload it, thus freeing up the device to be used elsewhere. To answer your final questions directly: 1 - To back up profiles locally, you can go to your "%appdata%/midi-mixer-app/profiles" folder (enter that into a "Run..." dialog), and all of them will be available there. Options for better sharing and backing up of these profiles are in mind. :) 2 - The solution for your current problem is as above, but I've added to my list to introduce a toggle on the settings page that disables this "helpful" autoloading should you want to avoid it. I'd encourage you to check out the Discord to see when features/fixes like that drop - it's currently the best place to keep track.

First of all thank you for this awesome piece of software. 👍 I was just about to buy a nanoKONTROL2 until I saw this video and now I own a x touch mini (£25 on ebay). It seems like a way more capable/customizable contoller. p.s. I have a problem with Parsec not showing up in the Group>Knob selection, or rather it does but it shows up like this "%b{00000000-0000-0000-0000-0000000000000}" and selecting this does not enable volume control. Is there anyway for me to force control of a specific app? Thanks again. 😁

The app uses Windows APIs only available in Windows 10 and above, though Windows 7 also reached end-of-life at the beginning of 2020. You should definitely consider an upgrade to keep safe from security risks if nothing else.
