Nice Video, so i buyed a DAW Controller from Behringer ( X-Touch mini). Tip: Download the Edit Tool from Behringer Website. Change LED`s,all Necessary Information, if you need them). Then load Behringer Prfile in Software and it Works absolutly fine ! Great Work !!

Glad I stumbled across this video, very informative. I have been trying to wean myself off of VoiceMeeter and virtual audio cables for a while, especially as Windows and OBS now both handle audio on a per application level, and this replaces the only function I was keeping VoiceMeeter for - using my NanoKontrol2 to control individual audio levels.

Let me save some of you some time when you plug in the X-Touch Mini and it doesn't work. If this happens, put it in MC mode. How do you do this? Disconnect the device, hold down the MC key then plug in the USB cable. After a few seconds the various lights on the device will flash. Prior to this, I would plug in the device and I could load the profile in Midi Mixer but nothing would happen. I didn't have to do this with the Korg nanoKontrol2, which just worked.

You can control submixes (virtual audio devices) from other apps like VoiceMeeter within MIDI Mixer, but MM itself does not create virtual audio devices.

Hello Jack. I'm Marcelo, from Argentina. It's a nice software and I like it very much that I now am able to control volumes of different apps while a zoom with my piano students. I'm using a nanokontrol2 and I'm guessing buttoms are not yet available, are they? I can't seem to be able to control mutes on channels (not even master) and no play-stop controls either. Is there a way around it? Thanks!

Hi there! Oh no! That doesn't sound good. The nanoKontrol2 is a built-in preset and all buttons on the board (M for muting / S for assigning / R for running the assigned app) should be fully working, including media controls. I'd love to help diagnose why it's not working for you! The easiest way would be for you to join the Discord (discord.midi-mixer.com), and we can step through it. My guess, though, would be that the board doesn't have a "default" configuration. Using the KORG KONTROL Editor, you'll need to reset to a default config as well as setting the "LED Mode" to "External".

@@jackwilliams939 I had previously made some changes on the CC bank to control a Behringer X air X18. I just performed a factory reset on my Nanokontrol2 and It's starting to work with the preset you suggested. I am still trying to figure this out (mute only works when pressed twice) but it's certainly an improvement!

@@Chuffi31 That's slightly better, at least! Sounds like the mute button is still being a bit funky though. It may well be that the buttons are set to "Toggle" instead of "Momentary" in the KORG Editor, perhaps? Diagnosing over KZbin comments is fun! :D

I use the nanokontrol as a daw controller (sonar), as the physical control for my behringer x18 and I'll try to set a third set for windows, for when I'm not using the Behringer. Can you add option to TURN OFF THE OSD / OVERLAY ? that breaks windows out of HDR content that is running (e.g. games) with a horrible and clunky mode switch every time the volume overlay pops up. I haven't tried the app yet but I haven't seen anything in the videos showing the ability to turn off that overlay. Using the old powermixer app you can change individual app volumes without invoking the windows volume overlay unless you are operating on the windows master volume.

as per Jack William's reply in the other video, I've learned that the app allows you to turn off the overlays which is great. That was my main reservation. HDR mode switching with the windows volume overlay is horrible. I'd been using powermixer but Jack's app looks great since it is a modern interface and has way more features than the old method. I have an akai midimix and a novation launch control. I'm going to migrate most of my app controls to the novation as it is a better unit overall. This MIDI Mixer app should allow me to use it's buttons and LEDs too, which is hard to do otherwise.

Controlling channel volumes is on the roadmap, but not an equalizer. Equalizing would require that MM provides some sort of audio device to process the sound, which is out of scope of the project. :)

First of all thank you for this awesome piece of software. 👍 I was just about to buy a nanoKONTROL2 until I saw this video and now I own a x touch mini (£25 on ebay). It seems like a way more capable/customizable contoller. p.s. I have a problem with Parsec not showing up in the Group>Knob selection, or rather it does but it shows up like this "%b{00000000-0000-0000-0000-0000000000000}" and selecting this does not enable volume control. Is there anyway for me to force control of a specific app? Thanks again. 😁

You can indeed achieve this, GoldKas! The preset for the nanoKONTROL2 has the rotaries mapped as Controls but hasn't added them to any Groups yet. If you copy the preset to a custom profile, you'll be able to set each rotary as a new group to assign at your leisure. :)

The app uses Windows APIs only available in Windows 10 and above, though Windows 7 also reached end-of-life at the beginning of 2020. You should definitely consider an upgrade to keep safe from security risks if nothing else.

Hi Martin. Looks like some helpful folks on the Discord server helped you with this question, but I'll regurgitate the answers some of the wonderful community gave you here for anyone else wondering the same. Yes, you'll be able to use the Akai Professional APC Mini as a device with MIDI Mixer. By "trasch sounds", I'm assuming you mean the ability to trigger sounds, like a sound board. This is currently on the roadmap (roadmap.midi-mixer.com/) but isn't planned for a release yet. You can, however, trigger keyboard shortcuts using MIDI Mixer or passthru the MIDI device so it can be used with another application, meaning if you find a soundboard application that supports MIDI or keyboard shortcuts then you can use it nicely alongside MIDI Mixer. Hope this answers your question!

Unfortunately not, Dan; MIDI Mixer only listens for MIDI input. Your best bet is to check out something like AutoHotkey for this.

Hi I got a problem with the software. Just like with NK2Tray, one need to press twice on a button like "mute " or "play" to activate the fucntion and to have the button light up on a nanokontrol2 Like let's say a video is playing, i press "mute", and the very first time the button wil light up red, to idnicate it's mute, but if i want to unmute, i press, nothing happens but the button turn off, so i need to press again really unmute etc. The light is never lighten up correctly (it's set on external in korg studio) and always need to press twice to activate or deactive a function. Same goes with every button (mute/unmute, play/pause, stop etc.) Any idea how to fix this?

Hi Sabishī! It sounds like your buttons are set to "Toggle" behaviour. With this sort of thing, setting them to "Momentary" is ideal and should fix your problem. You should be able to do that in the Korg Kontrol Editor! @@jackwilliams939 Hi Jack, thanks for the reply. With momentary, i'll lose the visual aspect of knowing a button is pressed... I wanted to see when mute button was activated (button being red), and with momentary, i'll press the button but won't know if it's pressed or not if i forgot what's on or off. After i re-tested with momentary, it's pretty much the same, if i press it turns red, if i press again, i need to press variosu time for the action to take effect and for the button to change color (i clicked on "wrote scene data" too, to register my new settings)

@@williamshevr MIDI Mixer handles turning the LED on or off for you and will keep it in sync with your system (i.e. if an application is muted elsewhere) so you don't need to worry about the board handling that! It sounds like your controller's still using Toggle mode though if you're having to press it twice. I don't have a nanoKontrol2 to hand, but there will be someone on the Discord that can help with the editor software to make sure it's in the correct mode. :)

Hi Raeting! VoiceMeeter isn't required for MIDI Mixer to work. If you want to use the two together, unfortunately VoiceMeeter resists changes via the Windows Mixer. My recommendation for the mean time would be to switch to Virtual Audio Cable to achieve the same sort of audio splitting.
