What a load of shit. Is there anything that blacks have control over with their lives?

For people who are saying that sex is not taboo in a black community trust me if you grew up in a black church you know someone who has suffered from religious drama and the obsession with virginity. I know I am not alone in dealing with this. Also if you're sexually active people will call you fast and a hoe so if sex isn't taboo that wouldn't happen Words like she's ran through or she's for the streets wouldn't exist if sex wasn't taboo. It is taboo and it's denial to say it's not. And if folks want to insist that sex is not an issue for non-western black people it is. There are plenty of African countries where a woman can be kllled for not being a virgin. There are plenty of African countries where female genital mutilation is a cultural practice and the vagina is sewn up tight and the clitoris cut off at a young teenage age ariund 13 so that sex can be more pleasurable for their husband and so that women cannot pleasure themselves without the man. There are places where even though it's outlawed, it's done in these remote villages and the women will say no one will marry them if they don't do this. Sex is stigmatized for Caribbean black women and Afro Latina black women, religion plays a part and so does patriarchy. There are Muslim black girls that suffer from this conservative ideology that the woman's body belongs to the man and that virginity is her only value and that that is supposed to be kept until marriage. If it wasn't taboo then why are baby mamas so stigmatized? If it wasn't taboo why were people in the generation before us sent away when they got pregnant and shame and have families have to lie about where the baby came from? If it's not taboo why do older black women look down upon younger black women and drag their name through the mud who are sexually active?

No. Black women are the least sexualized group of women. That’s why men use them the most.

The lack of accountability it just sad. Bw sexualize themselves in todays time. Nobdoy is forcing yall to behave in that manner. Yes, during slavery yall were sexualized even Jim Crow, but the difference is yall respected yall selves and didn't sexualize yourself also. Today, we have bw sexualizing themselves and then complaining about being sexualized. Zero accountability.

This is just so sad that as black people we are never allowed to just be people and be ourselves. We always have society trying to bully us into what it wants us to be and it’s so sad because all we want to do is live but we’re just hated cause of something that’s out of our control

Sex is taboo in the black community in America?! If anything it seems like black people here are more explicit about it than other ethnic groups.
@WardMB
@WardMB 22 күн бұрын
?? What!? I am sorry but sex should become a taboo because of the over sexualization of almost everything in the west. Why is there so much single motherhood if it was taboo and why is there so much nudity and sexualization in music industry and dance? I thought you were talking about a Christian country in Africa but was surprised to know you’re talking about America.

I study specifically what you’re talking about and have a few pointers. 1. The reason single motherhood is high in today’s society is because many men are unfortunately, not held to the same high standard that women are when it comes to raising their children. Women are the ones who physically carry the baby and deliver them, so walking away from raising them isn’t as easy for us as it is for them. This phenomenon shouldn’t be a reason why sex should be stigmatized. If anything, it could be seen as more reason why it shouldn’t be stigmatized so that more ppl can become aware of their many options for protection, how to use it and where to find it. I can’t tell you how many of my married friends who grew up in a highly religious and strict household that stigmatized sex, asked me where can they get condoms and birth control. 2. To answer your 2nd question about nudity and the over-sexualization in the music industry, that also derives from society’s lack of respect for women and their bodies. 100 years from today before the music videos and such, women (especially POC) were still being over-sexualized with the use of “the Jezebel”, “Black velvet”, “Harem girls”, “China dolls” and “Princess Pocahontas”. So it’s not about how “sex should be more stigmatized” (because less education and knowledge of it usually leads to more single motherhood, STDs, etc. and this has been proven statistically) (I worked in statistics as well, so I’ve seen it myself.). What you’re thinking about is more in the realm of how society throws a big middle finger to women regardless if we’re Christ-loving ppl loyal to men who will eventually leave us or “sluts” with no home training trying to find a way to pay for their next meal…

the lady in the video is saying American/black community considers sex taboo. Taboo means prohibited, forbidden, socially or religiously. On a large social scale close to generalization, in that sense do people in the black community fear to listen to Cardi B or Megan the Stallion music, if a person twerks in a party, does another person run to cover them? Also, is sex uncommon outside of wedlock. The most used cuss word is fu#k, what does this word signify? is anyone afraid to say it in public. I agree with your points but not in the context of taboo.

@@Feliciations ‘Openly talked about’? As with views, depends on the culture and religion. I would definitely say in some parts of Africa (particularly more conservative Muslim and some deeply conservative Christian areas) sex talk can be more euphemistic and private rather than open. I find modern black America is more open about it than some parts of Africa, but not always the case.

When they say, “black” they mean specifically “African Americans”. Many ppl African Americans say “Black” to refer to themselves because it’s more simple than saying African American. But they’re not referring to African ppl (which is waaay too large and general to make a conclusion about anyways since African ppl aren’t a monolith)

Has the influence from Hip-hop and Rap, especially from those like Lil Kim, Nicki Minaj, and Meg (and even those before them), not made a change in the way Black American women view sex and intimacy?
