There is a video on YT on how to use adhesive weatherstrip to repair damaged belt molding w/o having to replace it. I don't see how that could work when you have the window going up and down, rubbing against it.

Hi awesome video but I am having issues finding the right replacement motors, do you have an idea where I can get them? Figure while i'm in there i would like to put new ones in.
@DIYHelp17 күн бұрын
I never needed to replace myself. Work great ten years later. I do see them on eBay for $15 though. Cheap enough it’s worth a shot. Search for part numbers. FC260SD14270 and FC260SD15250 on eBay search. Best to remove first so you can compare pictures.

Thanks for all the suggestions regarding this fan motor replacement. The outline of steps was particularly helpful. I couldn’t find my small file and did file the motor shaft no big deal. The fan itself is quite old and brittle difficult to remove from the shaft. I used a hammer and punch on the shaft as I was not able to remove it using your technique. Thanks again!

Oil should NOT be dumped down the solenoid or applied to the inside of the valve. Brass parts typically don't require lubricant it just gums up with age and could leak into the wiring. Oil should be applied to o rings and seals witch is slandered practice. Also the spring should probably be stretched some, all springs under compression get shorter with time. Search for links on this to find more info on stretching it. Thanks for the video it's helpful for disassembly.

I did for a Kia Optima 2013, it worked on the right side at first. Then I noticed, some electrical issues, trunk opening by itself, key fob not working. I then did the other side and figured that I might put the cables wrong (the ones you marked at the beginning) I reversed it and still doing the same. And the mirror folding is not working anymore 🙂↕️ Kinda tired, I’m planning on redoing the whole thing see what I missed or taking it to the shop.

Worse case get mirror in open position and disconnect the power and abandon. Dealer will just replace with new. They will not repair. You can easily replace yourself and save the labor.

I would reinforce for sure. At least the front right. Prop can stay in place but good time to remove and examine. Clean up. Repaint. New lock nuts. It’s very difficult to get out unless differential is removed or you jack up the transmission.

I purchased a used 2019 Ridgeline and last two years, I noticed water dampness on the front floor cover. I thought left the windows cracked the windshield replaced or the top trim loose or something, I always saw moisture inside the car after rain and when I started the truck, wiped the windows inside due to moisture build-up, and white residue on the seats more than likely years of dampness and water stains, came and learned that I did the same thing like this gentleman I spray the front of the car with garden hose shower mode for ten minutes around the door, windshield, top trim and saw no water inside. I watered the back of the truck where the back window is and like in the video in less than a few minutes, all my floors were wet from back to front. I saw many posts and blogs online, and even newer models have the same issue, I read somewhere that class action is moving forward. It is a shame to put a product like this and not seal all the areas in the back. I have bed allergies and sniff anytime when I get into my car. I will rip apart and replace or clean the floor foam and seal all welded areas in the back. I will call Honda and complain, I hope that the class action lawsuit gets a result, these car companies are putting people through work. We are not car experts to figure out. Shame on Honda. My next car won't be a Honda for sure. We had a Honda Accord and it had a water leak issue as well years ago.

My 2019 Ridgeline has always had water on the floors, both passenger and driver side. Anytime we have good rain, it soaks the foam. Why can Honda get this right? We had an old Accord years ago; it leaked. No more Honda for me. One of my friends plans to buy a Ridgeline. I told him about the leaks. He is looking for another brand. Good Job Honda is already losing customers.

Nice job! I have a question about o-ring sizes. The numbering, as appeared in the video, does not help to find out the correct o-rings. The size shall be expressed as internal diameter & thickness. Do you have this information? Also inside solenoid there is one more o-ring that seals the piston assembly from the solenoid. I had leakage exactly there.... Taking out the piston setup from solenoid is PIA and tricky! Not guaranteed always...

I got a new gear, but whenever I put it in, the mirror doesn’t turn. Not even when I turn it manually. I’m confused af
@DIYHelp5 ай бұрын
Was the old gear damaged and broken like mine? Do you hear the motor engaging and trying to turn the mirror. Could be a bad motor? Did you plug it back in? Could also be a bad switch inside. If the other mirror works you probably have power and no blown fuse.
@ATREES5 ай бұрын
@@DIYHelp FYI my car is a 2017 Azera. The motor is similar. The taller gear broke and I got a new one. I plugged in the mirror with the motor. All I hear is a click. When I remove the gear, I can hear the motor spinning. I thought I got a slightly larger gear, but no. I even put back the broken factory one, but it doesn’t spin. I may have to a buy the entire piece all together.
@ATREES5 ай бұрын
Basically, the big metal part that the motor and gears rely on in order to rotate the mirror does not spin when I put the taller gear in. Even when I try to spin it manually, if the gear is in, it won’t spin. It’s like if it’s wedged.

I have 2 J types, one on a Stag, and one on a Dolomite Sprint, and both are too close to the body or exhaust to get a spanner on there to undo, so I got an old open end spanner and cut the end off (like a crow foot spanner) and welded that onto the other (handle) end of a single end spanner at 90 degrees, and that slides on. You can only turn it so far, but as you said, once it loosens from tight, can turn undone by hand. Same to tighten, it turns most of the way by hand, then the last little bit, spanner has enough travel to tighten.

Question for something i do not understand. At 13:24 you show the drill bit setting a gap. WHen you pull out the drill bit what keeps that gap set? it seems these parts just slide around. Am i missing something?
@DIYHelp5 ай бұрын
I was just demonstrating where the drill bit goes. This gap gives the gas peddle a little dead spot when you fist step on it. To answer your question you set the gap once all the linkage is fully installed in the car. It will secure correctly when everything is connected.

Just put the front two on today. Finally got the time and weather to do it...They fit like a charm! The front two were completely done with so they were the important ones! For "tapping them down", I used a rubber mallet (small) and a small block of aluminum bar stock. Other than that, your advice and video were spot on and a life saver! Thanks again!
