Where do you get the string/strap/necklace? What’s it called? Can anyone help me with that?

This is nice, simple and beautiful. I don’t mean simple to make, I mean simple on the eyes…

Hi Chas, thanks for the video. I tried your method, except instead of a pin and tape I used a small screw for the first two steps. It let me worry a little less about my initial cuts. Not sure if you tried that and rejected it for some reason? I did have to adjust the thickness of the block vs. the length of the screw to match the piece, but since I didn’t have a pin laying around the choice was easy!

Hi your lathe chuck (black grips) where can I find them, what are they called? Really appreciate your pear log bowl❤ Thanks Malcolm

Hi Malcolm… those are “tower” jaws for the OneWay chuck. Search online for OneWay chucks and accessories. You’ll find them. Cheers!

As a beginning turner - I am doing mostly small spindle turnings. I enjoyed watching your video and am sure I will include this in my list of "must do" turnings. Thank you for an exhalent presentation. Very well discribed and the in close camera was also exceptional. One question, Can you tell me about your friction polish - if you make it yourself - can we get your formula. Looking forward to following your video net. Thank you, much appreciated.

Hi Nelson, I always used Mylands friction polish. It works extremely well. Cheers!

The piece is beautiful. I watch for entertainment purposes and to relax. Great video but the music is very distracting. Seems like you're competing when you talk.

Very nice work. Thank you for the idea, the time and the instruction. I am waiting for the winter weather to clear before I buy a lathe and install it in my co!d garage. Right now I'm hoping for the Rikon 70 3040, but I have to chuckle when I imagine myself bent over that monster working on such fine delicate work. But I guess they say you can do small work on a big lathe but you can't do big work on a small lathe. Again, thank you for sharing.

I am brand-new at woodturning and this looks like it would be a great project to try. I'd like to know - is that a normal 4-jaw chuck holding the piece? If not, what is it?
@chas64443 жыл бұрын
They are called Pin Jaws... designed to grasp small spindles.

Awhile back I came across a crew removing this tree with that beautiful orange coloring. Later that day me and a buddy grabbed all the logs. I probably have a thousand pounds of what turns out to be Bradford Pear. A few crotch pieces as well. I can’t wait to play with it.

"...and a spinning lathe can fling that glue out." Truer words were never spoken.
@eddielane95694 жыл бұрын
You could turn a piece to glue to the bottom to give it a better base to stand on. Use the same wood or something else.

Not only love the piece, but way more importantly, the video is helpful due to the explanations offered with- OUT... too much talk about stuff that's not pertinent to the video. There ARE WAY too many videos of people just SHOWING what they're doing, without explaining their thought process or reasoning behind certain procedures, as if we should already know how to do it and understand exactly what they're doing. I call them showoff videos, and I'll stop the video and move on the moment I realize that no explanation is offered.. My theory.. If we knew how to do it, we wouldn't be looking for a how to video... Liked.. Subscribed.. Commented... And hit the bell lol. Bravo.

Am I the only 17 year old on here? I enjoy woodworking like crazyyy!! Too bad I dont have money to spend on expensive machines. I work with what I got for now though
@thehumbledabbler4 жыл бұрын
I feel ya kiddo. I'm 40 and can't afford a lathe, so I built 2 of them. In fact, I've built most of my large tools and the accessories to use them with. The only thing I really spend money on are materials to build such items lol. My unsolicited advice... Do some research, watch a ton of how to videos, and be diligent, and u can salvage most of the parts needed. Remember... As humans, we are literally capable of doing anything we're willing to put enough time and effort to accomplish. Think about it.
@zslinkyzx98314 жыл бұрын
@@thehumbledabbler seriously tho its insane! Like i like building table amd shit but can't get a plainer to flatten the wood so i just use a router and level to do it. It works. Little harder but honestly wayyyy cheaper. Now if I had the money I would buy the things. I just don't. What kind of things you normally make? Also epoxy. Wish that wasnt so expensive ;(

Ground level pedestal fill with gold christmas tree balls. Maybe a square plexi glass case just to make sure no one puts trash in the bowl.
