Love the paint and Golden Syrup tins holding up the bridge. Can't beat a modellers innovation!🙂
@peterloader53536 ай бұрын
they do exactly what they say on the tin! I call it the syrup bridge - I really do need to start working on that end of the railway. This video has shown me that the view between Aller Junction and Newton Abbot should look good once the scenery is there. Once that's done I have promised myself I'll build the Kingswear extension.

Fabulous railway room and super layout under construction.I love the platform-mounted signal box. I remember going on holiday to Dawlish in the mid fifties. It rained heavily while we were there but on the plus side, my parents bought me a Dinky Toy Rolls Royce with working suspension! That was great fun and we enjoyed our brief stay despite the rain. Thanks for sharing your layout - carry on with the good work - it's looking great. Congratulations on your viewing numbers, too.

Hi. Just seen this. And is shows me. You put the cross over there. And not further on. Size and space means a lot. When you have done an amazing lot 😊😊😊😊😊
@stephenlittle75347 ай бұрын
Not bad a all. 😅😅😅 As i have been now living here in Dawlish for the past 16 years now. I have read up a lot on the old layout of the station and track work. You, sir, are very very close to what it has been in the age you are running. I could see the cross over near the start of the viaduct. Correct. But could not see the one at the end of the station passed the bridge. Maybe we couldn't see it. Because of the bridge. 😅. And just to let you know. Were you have that shed at the end of the yard. That is were the water tower was. Mind you. You can only do so much. And you have done an amazing work already sir. Thank you.😊😊😊😊😊
@peterloader53537 ай бұрын
Thanks for your kind remarks. The other crossover is there! Re the water tower, I have a dapol kit to make up for that - came across it in my to do box the other day and it did cross my mind to do it whilst I had the relevant paint out. Perhaps you have just shifted it up my priority list. Watch this space!

Just subscribed looking fantastic some seriously good modelling! Q I am at a similar stage to you and run Z21 also, I’m trying to make a decision on point control both what motors (I have a selection of Solenoid Tortoise and analogue Cobalt) and on Z21 or not. I favour your approach to keep it separate. The itrains route looks interesting can you point me in the direction of how I could get some advice on it? Thanks Mark
@peterloader53537 ай бұрын
Thanks for your kind remarks. I've similarly got a mix of point motors. I'd say my preferred is peco solenoid plus dcc concepts ads-8sx accessory decoders - gives me the option for lever frames at a later date it money permits and I have the inclination. Itrain is probably overkill but I like the point and click diagram plus route programming.
@peterloader53537 ай бұрын
Z21 is good value - if you have mobiles / tablets knocking about then multiple controllers available at no extra cost. I tell visitors to simply install the app then wireless send the loco roster to them when they arrive.
@markhudson26847 ай бұрын
Ah so in theory you could use a separate large tablet to for point control?
@peterloader53537 ай бұрын
@@markhudson2684- yes you could. I think it has to be Android 5 and later - which is annoying as I had planned to use an old tablet which would have been ideal

Hello., I watched your video today and am very envious of your Railway room. One thing I think you should know. Your control system you said was a Z Twenty One. That is wrong. You along with may other DCC modellers get it wrong. I know it says on it Z21, but it actually reads Zed to One, meaning any layout from Z gauge to gauge One, can be operated by that system.. Otherwise what a wonderful layout concept you have! Keep it up..

Thank you for your comment - appreciated. I have based my track plan off the signal box diagram and photos for steam train days which is when my railway is set. Most of the modern rolling stock belongs to my son, and of course, even when I first visited Dawlish in 1984, the goods yard sidings were long gone (signal box was still open)

I like how you have got Dawlish station to a T. I was also thinking of doing dawlish curve heading round towards Dawlish Warren on part of my new extended layout that is due to be constructed. I like to try and do an exhibition styled Dawlish station with the wall like you have done and I think it would be an excellent opportunity to build Dawlish station for an exhibition. You have done great work on it love to see more modern are trains running on your Dawlish section.
