The voice and talent of Cliff Ukulele Ike Edwards are simply amazing. No one else sounds like him. He was completely unique and always sounds so relaxed and natural. He certainly had his demons and ultimately a difficult life, but he has also achieved immortality. I have no doubt that 100 years from now, people will continue to be totally charmed and entertained by this very special man with a unique gift from God.

He save the day on that one he had to get for Donald Duck back on track. Some people don’t have strong musicality. I would have to say that or O’Donnell is one of them. Cliff Edwards was a bad son of a gun.

There's a 10/31/1950 episode of Fibber McGee & Molly on which Fibber is trying to learn to play the ukulele from a set of recorded lessons by Perry Botkin.... and an announcement at the end that the recorded lessons are available in stores.

The music heard at the beginning of this video was lifted from his score to the movie Murder by Contract (1958), done entirely on the guitar, just like Anton Karas did with the zither nine years earlier in The Third Man.

I play ukulele like Cliff Edwards, even collect some of his old 1920s records for my collection! He was a great artist and it's sad that no one remembers him. Atleast some do and that's what counts!

Note that these three icons knew when to come in and when to stay out of the trio. THAT'S musicianship. They listened and played off each other to make a special moment for all of us to enjoy more than 60 years later.

Disney's greatest stroke among many genius bits of casting was to have Cliff, who flourished on wine, women and song, as Pinocchio's "conscience" but it produced "the greatest vocal of the century", When You Wish Upon A Star.

Most of his old songs are available on iTunes. His rendition of Paper Moon and Somewhere over the Rainbow are so touching they'll bring you to tears how heartfelt they are. Keep in mind the pop-stars of today with the scandals and flash and glam, but their TALENT is lacking -- they're just marketing commodities, not stars.

So nice to see Cliff, Clarence, and Jose’ but Joaquin Garay! They should of had him for this too, after all it ain’t the Three Caberros without Panchito! Was he not available at the time or something? I know he had some Cabana he worked at outside of films and stuff back then so that was probably why too…

That's so sad. Cliff Edwards was so short changed in life and death. If it wasn't for "When you wish upon a star" from the cartoon adaptation of Pinocchio, he would've been non existent. Sad.

Well, I remember him for starters. I remember him as Ukelele Ike and I loved his voicd when I was very small and he was Jiminy Cricket. So, nobody in his hometown remembered him but one small voice in Australia does and did.

Rest in paradise Cliff Edwards Although I must say you should have given *Richard Percy Jones that little whistle to know right from wrong he could have also been your guide *Voice actor of Pinocchio Unlike Jiminy who guided Pinocchio to qualify as official conscience to become a real boy, his whole life is a struggle with alcoholism, drug addiction and gambling which rendered him penniless towards the end of his life

That's a damn sad case. I know who he is and I live in Seattle Washington. I'm from North Carolina and I remember every week when the wonderful world of Disney came on hearing that song. And then I looked into him as an adult, his videos, movies and music, he was prolific. I'm sad to find out that that's the way his life ended. Thank you for shedding light in your hometown about Cliff.

It Happens ! Many famous and talented people remain to the public unknown. Philo Farnsworth , he invented television and Raymond Damadian , he invented the MRI , come to mind . With all the technology there are a vast amount of people that are in the dark about a lot of things . I think it has always been this way
