Cani decorate cake of butter cream or non dairy fresh whipping cream..Which cream is suitable
@Dozycakes

Hi! I’ve applied it to meringue buttercreams successfully, but not crusting buttercream like American buttercream. I imagine it would be fine on ABC if you apply before it crusts. I’m not sure about whipping cream because it’s softer. If you try it, let me know how it goes x

If you cover the embossing plate and wafer paper with a piece of soft foam, then roll a rolling-pin firmly across this will have it shaped in a few moments.
@Dozycakes
@Dozycakes 3 жыл бұрын
Caroline Hawkins I’ll have to try that. You’ve done it successfully?
@carolinehawkins1105
@carolinehawkins1105 3 жыл бұрын
With several different types and weights of paper, although admittedly, not with wafer paper yet. (Have only just found out about wafer paper.) I have arthritis so embossing by hand drives me to experiment with simpler ways to try things. It's worth trying different types of foam or felt, but even just pressing with a pad of soft cloth can do it. If the embossing plate is very soft an flexible it may need a soft layer underneath as well. Instead of the rolling pin you can use a craft-press (cuttlebug or Sizzix etc) or a bookpress.

How do you cut/eat a cake with wafer paper?? Do you remove it? Anyone know of a video that shows it? Neat tutorial.
@Dozycakes
@Dozycakes 4 жыл бұрын
You simply remove the paper. It hardens so it comes off easily. I find that guests are usually curious about it so I’ll put a small piece on their plate along with their cake - and warn them that it tastes like nothing 😂 A short demo on deconstructing a wafer paper cake is a great idea! I’ll put one together the next time I have the chance. I haven’t seen anything out there that shows this x

Thank you so much. Is wafer paper the same as rice paper?
@Dozycakes
@Dozycakes 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Elizabeth. It is not the same! Two very different mediums. Edible rice paper used in cake decorating is translucent and very stiff. If you’ve ever eaten a spring roll, that is rice paper. Water is used to soften the sheets. Wafer paper is more opaque. Both are made from starches, but very different to work with. Hope this answered your question :)
