My favourite Olympic video ever. I come back to it regularly and still feel emotional. Hicham El Guerrouj is the greatest 1500M/Miler I have ever seen, and not a bad 5,000M as well. Bernard Lagat is a class act as well, and I have huge respect for him for his generosity to Hicham. They both had tremendous respect for each other and it showed. Bruce McAvaney's commentary and the music choice are just brilliant. He still holds the world record time: "Each lap run during the men's world-record race of 3:26.00, run by Hicham El Guerrouj of Morocco in 1998, averaged just under 55 seconds per lap."

"Or can Silva catch both of them?!" I thought at the top of the final bend that Silva was going to get them both and cause a huge upset. He was damn near last at the bell! Left it too late.

I want to be like El Guerrouj . He suffered a lot and failed many times, but in the end he achieved his dream. You may not be able to achieve your dream the first time, but if you continue and do not give up, be sure that you will achieve it.

Hicham El Guerrouj just calming waiting until last 100m to turn the turbo run on. He sense it was slow race and his opponents didn't calculate a 1500 meter world record runner into their calculation. Hicham was hungry /too many dissapointments and ready for gold. It was all a tactical run. Smart and learned from his previous mistakes and fall. The GOAT of the 1500m.

And the craziest thing about this race is that Frankie Fredericks also broke the old world record. 2 fastest times of all times in the same race. Amazing. And when you think, Pietro Menea's record of 19.72 stood unbroken since 1979 (btw MJ broke that one weeks before the Olympics in Athlanta. Just WOW!
