An old man hitting on a much younger woman. Middle age men seem to hit on college girls.

I find these moments with Old Indy good fun but they're also very contemporary and clash with the tone of the story that is historical in nature. Not to mention jumping from the early 90's then the 1910's and back again can be quite jarring for modern sensibilities watching in 2024 and beyond. George Lucas and his team (it wasn't just George's decision based on interviews) thought it worked better without Old Indy. I tend to agree with them. Nevertheless, thank you for sharing these as it is good to see them. In a way they remind me of George's idea of Star Wars being told by R2-D2 to the Keeper of the Whills for the Journal of the Whills. I can imagine it would've been very similar to this if he had made his Sequel Trilogy.

Curious how old Indy end up like he is after Dial of Destiny. Unless the show is no longer canon.

Indy definitely taught that young punk a lesson, just because you hate your life doesn’t give you the right to take it out on other people, especially when a sweet old lady is kindly correcting your mistake. I Also love that when he’s yelling at the prison guards he sounds like a angry old Irishman

One of a number of series they tried opposite "60 Minutes." I always loved, loved, loved! The wraparound story with Old Indy. And I'm with George Hall, who wanted at least one episode with 93 year old Indy having a modern day adventure! You can't tell me he wasn't still getting into trouble! (And loving it!)

While I completely agree with you, I think Henry was just being sarcastic, given that Indy and his cousin's trip wasn't supposed to take longer than a couple of days. And since Indy joined the war effort without at least making a quick stop back to his relatives' home to let them know he was alive and well, WW1 is technically an extension of his original plans, reductive as it may seem.

Not saying wiping out all trace of George’s acting was the right choice, but as someone on the outside looking in who’s never seen this series, these scenes are fucking horrible! Comedy gold, but wow are they some of the most tone breaking shit ever.

@@StooTV If he was an actor, wasn’t he supposed to be acting like Indiana Jones and not a decrepit Leprechaun?
@StooTV Жыл бұрын
@@marxmith He was a bad choice, I agree (and I'm a Canadian who had Irish grandparents). They should've hired somebody else or dubbed his voice like they did for some other characters when the episodes were repackaged into films.

@@StooTV I admire your honesty. Some people irrationally defend George Hall’s Old Indy to an absurd level. The old Indy bookends were a good idea in theory, but just failed to evoke anything but cringe. Dial of Destiny showed that older Indy can still (mostly) live up to the heroics of young Indy.
@StooTV Жыл бұрын
@@marxmith Thanks, bud. I started uploading the bookends 15 years ago only because I was shocked at how few Indy fans had seen them. Now, George Hall has a whole new fanbase. For me, I'm more into the lore of these rather than for his portrayal. As "cringe" as some of them were/are, check out the bookend for Petrograd, July 1917 (#7 in my "Old Indy" series). It's probably the best one...despite his Leprechaun voice! 🙂

I just finished watching the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles today on Disney+ and didn't even know that these were removed. I came here because I remember hearing something about a scene with a 90-year-old Dr. Jones, but I would've never imagined that there were scenes for the beginning and end of each episode! It's a crime that Disney took these out. They give the show so much great context, I'm so glad I got to see them. Thank you for putting these up, I am forever in your debt.

To all the nay-sayers about George and Sean Ptricks portrayal of Indy according to a interview they both gave they came in for the read and afterwards was told to make the character there own and that was all the direction they got. The showrunners reckoned the fans would want it because it was Indy and not care how the character was played.
